You see, this is the first really big problem. You heard it from someone instead of looking it up yourself and deciding for yourself if it was true or not. The vast majority of people who crying over the abandonment of the more aggressive story, fail to understand that if Summer's Gone is partially about healing, that automatically excludes the earlier darker, more aggressive direction.
And this is another big problem. Unfortunately, we live in a world where - whether like it or not - a (A)VN developer has to accept certain rules, even if the rules themselves change from month to month, and are basically bullshit. If the developer asks for support on Patreon or any other similar platform, he/she has already extradite him/herself to at least one third party (Patreon, CC Companies, etc.). If the rules are constantly changing, then the developer can do two things, either leave the whole thing to hell, because he/she doesn't want to have a endless and meaningless fight, or try to do everything to protect the product as much as possible. At the moment, a particular story - and this is not an optional thing - has to change, so more or less everyone will or can be satisfied. And since this is supposedly a free world, no one is obliged to spend time with an AVN that does not meet their tastes and expectations.
