Damn, I came to this thread to listen to people’s mood before the release, and here is such a tragedy.
Steam had everything: very cool trailer, screenshots, intriguing description. Everything felt expensive. Everything is within the bounds of decency. How could they block this? It seems that for some these limits can be pushed back a little, while others are punished without any room for error.
Loads of anime characters that look exactly like young girls hit the shelves and are quietly sold. They are simply given a tag that they are witches who are over three hundred years old, living in a young body.) And no questions asked.
And they attacked the game developer and started tearing at him like animals.
It is quite understandable how empty the developers feel in their souls now.

Uber
*... and on Steam, it’s for existing in a "grey area." They’ve decided, based on their own interpretation, that it feels like a school setting - even though we’ve taken every measure to ensure otherwise: the lecture hall setting, clothes style, clear warnings that all characters are over 18, etc. But none of that seems to matter. There’s no mention of a school or anything related to it in the project. *

Well, though luck, I guess he will have to settle for the money he earns monthly in SS. Steam was a risky bet because the game was created around the school. It's like with incest, it doesn't matter if you call the mom landlady, it's what it is. Worse part is that they have been working for months on the Steam Seasons just for nothing.

Not for nothing. When they started using Seasons as versioning in 2023, they stated they wanted to eventually go break out each "Season" as a standalone download.

Uberpie being kicked off Patreon just actually got them focusing on "Season 1" standalone instead of delaying doing it.

Man, this whole season thing is so terrible for users. Maybe it looks like a cool concept to developers, but for user expierence its just inconvenient and a chore.

I said the same sentiment the first time and I used less words to do it that first time, but okay.
I mean more detail is always better. Telling me that UberPie doesn't fix the AI errors is more useful than "idk think about it yourself." Would I have preferred a more opinionated answer though? Yes. Doesn't seem like you're gonna give it so I'll at least take this.

After the Steam ban, I don't think this idea will stick. Though, I honestly don't know how else it's possible to work on such a massive project without breaking it into smaller parts.

I think we should just wait for the game itself and see how much they’ve actually fixed. Don’t you think?

I just hope this season 1 is actually a good length and doesn't end stupidly early because we don't know how long we will have to wait for season 2 or if he just scraps this seasons plan entirely.
But I hope it does release on the 28th and that this does put the traction back into this game as it was good.

What's going on? why's everyone so triggered?? o_O
Because Steam has officially decided to cancel the release of the new, updated Season 1 which was planned specifically to be launched there in 2 days, allegedly because the game was in a "grey area" and did not conform to their standards. This comes after the Patreon ban last year for similar reasons. Some people are blaming the platforms and other are blaming UberPie for failing to comply, while some are just worried that the game won't be released at all on the promised date due to these developments.

It's supposed to be 1/3 of the content of the current seasons 1-4, according to previous comments on this thread. I'm pretty sure he will stick with the seasons since he already used them when launching the current version (Season 5 v1.07.3c) back in Patreon times. He could simply release the game to his very loyal supporters on SubscribeStar on the already established date, but we'll see.

Hi, could someone tell me how to transfer my save files from version 0.89.8b to 1.07.3c? Are they compatible?

But it does contain sexual violence of nonconsensual sex, which is against Patron rules.
BINGO!! Steam and Patreon have started a heavy crackdown on games that have such themes, for reasons privy only to themselves, highly likely: to comply with some international laws that can put the companies in hot waters, and in the deep scrutiny of finances departments where they have their offices / bases of operations...

I realize that Uber pie changed it to a "college" in 2018 to appease Patreon... But the dialogue and narrative says "school" and "teacher" and "principal" far too often but not "dean" and "instructor" /"professor" and "university"/ "college" enough.
Exactly, they failed to do those little changes, that might seem quite inane, but for some people, they mean a lot, thus, clearly creating a difference between a high school and a college setting.

They are currently grossing just as much $$$ on Subscribestar, if not more, than they did on Patreon before they got booted.
So they cannot argue that they don't have enough resources to keep going, furthermore, how many are the devs on the team???
Are they splitting evenly, or they are splitting based on a percentage??

I agree with your entire comment.
Big question is, how they will solve the issues?? itch.io maybe????

What's going to happen now? The game was going great, then came the Patreon shenanigans, forcing them to tone down the very work everyone loved them for - by a considerable amount. And yet, they still failed to appease Patreon. So, they moved to Steam, took even more time to water it down further (probably to comply with Steam?), and now no one’s sure if the game even honors its roots anymore.

And now, even that failed, as Steam rejected it. So, what's next?

Are they going to spend more time "readjusting the work to reflect the original quality the game had in the first place?" Only time will tell~
