This has been on my watch list for quite some time but I haven't actually ever gotten to it. So what might have been the bad juju against Patreon's ever-changing ToS that this game had?

Sad to see this one go, for awhile it was one of my favourites.

I supported the patreon in short intervals over last 2-3 years. The dev was sparse on posting and we would only see a handful of teaser images here and there, never any detailed information on progress. Updates got further and further apart. I think there was a tease or two for a new update before the ban, but I had unsubbed by then. I'd be curious whether the dev tapped out and then the ban came, or if the ban was just the final nail. Either way, seems as though they would have said something by now if they intended to keep the game going.

Another game killed by Patreon censorship.
As much as I hate Patreon. This isn't a case of Patreon censorship.

His Patreon is under review, because he vanished of the face of the earth and hasn't engaged with anything in 6 months.
The last time anyone heard from the dev was on Discord in August.
No one knows what happened to him.
He was complaining about his health, but seemed to be on the mend.
Someone else also claimed, that there was a natural catastrophe in Docs home country.
Though they didn't mention which country specifically. So there's that.

Anyway shame about the game, I just hope the Doc himself is ok.

Feel free to call me a cynical asshole, but updates and releases getting noticeably sparser and the dev claiming health problems is basically a trope at this point, and I've never seen a game NOT be abandoned afterwards. I do have, however, a graveyard of a watch list, riddled with abandoned and "on hold" titles, many of which shared this trope before the end.

Oh, I'm well aware how it often goes when devs or their relatives get "sick". But usually they try to keep their patreon running, which wasn't the case here. He just disappeared from one day to the next.
So I'm just giving him the benefit of the doubt, because of that and what someone on discord said.
Wouldn't call you a cynical asshole over that.
I'm a realist myself, so I'm well aware that the dev might just be ok and maybe reading this while giggling to himself over the stupid people online discussing his possible untimely demise.
Not that we're likely to find out the truth anyways.
Whatever the case is, I'm just bummed another good game was abandoned.

confirmed, patreon pulled the plug in November, there's no money coming in anymore. It wasn't all that much anyway.

A good guess is, RL priorities shifted away from that silly game. (godspeed in that case)
Another guess... nah, do not wanna dive into that...

Probably not.

Whatever the case is, I'm just bummed another good game was abandoned.
Amen to that.
