I want to get none of the preg and just have a good time haven't made enough of connection to want it yet haha
I starting to believe that maybe this is never actually an incest game? Why do the supposed cousin call their own mom to MC as "our aunt"?
Also that's literally supposed to be their mom's house but they all need to pay rent? (or maybe I'm just to un-American to get it)
So maybe the friend, landlady and tenant was always the original intended relationship after all...

What works best? Mom/Sisters or Aunt/Cousins. Not played the second update yet and would like to get it right from the start.

Basically, from what I can tell, all these "issues" (except maybe the one about choosing mom and calling her aunt) is just a simple interface, rather than something complicated enough to annoy players at the beginning (What do you usually call her / what do you call her when angry / what do you call her when teasing, etc.)
Basically, just accept that this is the devs way of saving time and getting around all the issues that come from trying to actually make money off of their efforts and have content that appeals to a specific (but seemingly large) fanbase without resorting to a round-about "patch".

The twins paying rent to their own mother is fine. Some families actually do that.
But the script does seem to have been written with the default relationships in mind probably so as to ease pass the scrutiny of patreon. So the twins calling Angela "Our aunt" in that example you mentioned, would have been "Our landlady" up to that point as the default.
As far as I can remember, you do get to specify the relationship between Angela and the twins and vice versa so...I'm not sure why, when Sophie spoke, it pulled the same relationship variable that you entered as Angela's relationship to the MC.

So I took a look at the code in the prologue.rpy and the episode1.rpy
Prologue definitely captures a separate variable for Angela's relation to the twins, as relation7. But immediately after that, the dev did
$persistent.rel7 = relation4
Which, I'm guessing sets relation7 back to relation4 which is the variable for Angela's relation to the MC.
Later on in the prologue, relation7 is called in a line spoken by Sophie, but obviously it'll show whatever you entered for relation4.
And then in episode 1, Sophie has another line that straight up calls relation4. Doesn't even bother to call relation7. It's the line where she's telling the MC
I can't say what's going on here. I'm not a programmer or developer. I would have guessed if you could patch the prologue.rpy and change

lol started to play the update gonna play tomorrow not gonna lie my favorite character Sophie pissed me. Taking the controller when the MC was winning and causing him to lose the match I get it's her being playful but the gamer in me got pissed off at her

I just put them all of sister tho I might of fucked up and put beth as Grace and Sophie's cousin probably should of made her sister as well towards them lol. I forgot the story a bit so I forget if the mother just divorced or what so felt cousin was a safer bet.
The newest update added a few relationship variables to make aunt/cousins work better, but mom/sisters still seems best to me. The only part I remember that seemed odd with that configuration was how unaffected Mom was about her ex-husband being ex-alive.
Edit: Fun word fact; I originally described mom as "nonplussed", but on a whim I checked to make sure I had the definition right, and the answer to that was... sorta. The official definition is basically the opposite of the way I used it, but it has an informal/unofficial definition (mainly in North America) which is apparently the only way I'd ever seen it used.

You are free to use whatever you wish ofc. When I played the game using these, I feel like there's less unanswered questions and the ones that remain, I can ignore more easily. And having looked at the code, maybe there's just coding errors as to why, in that configuration, there's some weird dialogue like Sophie says "Our aunt" (like I explained in my last post) when referring to Angela.
It should be considered that maybe the developer intentionally left things open-ended to accommodate different options as some have said they used Mom/Sisters and they preferred that. I personally don't like that since trying to please everyone can end up pleasing no one and I would have preferred something a bit more definitive but it's not my game. And in the configuration recommended by Maevos, I can suspend my disbelief well enough to enjoy the actual game content so it's not a huge deal.
Also it should be considered that the script seems to have been written with the default relations in mind. Your landlady most likely wouldn't care if your father died, if she's just your "landlady". So things like that seem to be intentionally avoided in lieu of getting paid. Though I could imagine if Angela is your mother's sister, and the dude abandoned you and your mom, Angela would have little love for the bastard.

The relationships are so confusing in this game, neither sisters/mom or cousin/aunt seem to work well for sophie-grace-angela. Do you think maybe sophie-grace- beth all being half sisters to the mc would work better? For example Mc-sophie-grace have same mom but different dads and mc and beth have same dad but different moms.

Personally I just made them all sisters to me it makes sense if you think about the father being a deadbeat that left after their mom got knocked up since they don't really react to his death. Since the age gap between Beth and everyone else is far enough apart it works for me.
