It's that this thread is actually from the dev and/or his promoters, he's using this (and also others in different pages and everyone of them are always outdated) to catch people through psychological markering strategies, that's why the thread is never updated, that gap is what get people horny to get the latest version so badly and sometimes release their money for it.

We actually stop posting links of his game for 6 months as he requested and he delivered the features, he even shared a demo version in here. But we don't wanted demos so we started leaking his game again now that the agreement was over.
That was the last time we saw him in here, he is obviously not happy his game is being shared here hence he bans anybody participating on this thread.

There's always an agreement behind that we just can't see or verify my friend. If someone gives you a service for free it's because you are the service (us in this case, a big community, a big amount of potencial customers), and the same applies with those "favors" he promised in the past over here, that was "allowed" just for publicity. Naivety doesn't exists in this business world sadly.

Make sense, tho I would rather be clear that some statements are your personal opinion and not facts. As you put it yourself, we cannot see or verify, and they may exist or not. I dont think they exist in this case because his behavior banning users doesn't make sense if he was trying to convert pirates to paying users, instead of banning them he would be offering them a deal now that he identified them. Hence I don't think he has an agreement here. (The dude is not stupid, he is fucking annoying tho)

Sure thing, but I mean, you can understand agreement in several different ways, and the publicity is key here even if, as you mention, there's no any. He need to promote his product and this is the cheapest way, otherwise as an intelectual propiety I think he could easily ban this thread and aven start a lawsuit again the site. If the site keep healthy after distribuiting products that are under the paywall for free, that must be for a reason... Sometimes you resign a little to get a lot more after.

I think you are overestimating this forum; regardless of that, is not cheap. Last time I checked a link shared in gofiles (you can check the download stats there) just after 1 week the file was already downloaded more than 3000 times, this is worth 24k of this Patreon $8 tier and represents 87k of the Itch $29 cost. How is this cheap?
Not considering this was only gofiles which is not as popular as Mega or immune as Terminal.
This is possible because I have learned this site is usually the source of leaks for other sites, hence why Znel monitors it closely taking down links as quick as possible before they get shared into the rest of the web.
In conclusion, I don't think he has an agreement here, is not cheap, not that valuable and if he had, he would act accordingly by taking benefit of it and spamming us with his ads and not banning people.
But I get it, believing he had an agreement is satisfying to think, it would make him the evil dev we would like him to be, a reason to hate him and to justify pirating his software. However... it just doesn't make sense

Is not that this seller of a product would be evil, it's that everyone are kinda like that. It just depends of the point of view you take to analyse the things, that despite the fact that we're also talking about an unfinished product.

I'm making an objective analysis here with the data I have, with the observations stated above and despite the fact that I pirate his software. I dont think him or everybody is "kinda like that"
In fact, from an objective PoV we are more inclined to be the evils. Taking away the Objective PoV I do consider me a bandit, I love to not pay, to steal his game. But that is why I ignore this fact and rather do an objective analysis.
We should just embrace what we are, stop justifying, we steal from these fuckers regardless of them being evil or not.

This calculation is wrong because you assume that everyone who downloads a game for free would pay for it if they had no other option. I think the proportion of people who pay is much smaller. At most 5-10%. If at all.
I was really thinking about buying it because the character editor has something to offer, but this kind of behavior (if it's true) puts me off..There are countless games I've bought or become a Patreon for after playing them for free here. Because they were good and the developers were nice. I have no problem spending money on things I like. Maybe I'll change my mind when it's on sale at itch (at least 70% ^^) , we'll see.
At this point I'm close to just buying the damn thing. Been waiting on a link since day 1 of the new update lol

That's because the itch.io page only updates when another build drops, and always stays 3 builds behind, specifically to incentivize you to pay for the patreon.
