Well... good luck, bro: you're having it your own way and I'm having it mine.
Just say some prayers if you're playing BaDIK.
I'll add one more reason why you should not install a walkthrough mod:
- when a mod is made like "Now and Then" walkthrough mod - the game branches making you see different scenes accordingly to your path, but the mod makes you see them all, therefore you don't understand what's happening anymore.
Well, in the case of BaDIK, scrappy is still active and will update his mod, as for sancho's mod (MIA), he shared a file (SaveFixer) which allows players to "uninstall" his mod from our saved games, allowing players to clean their saves of his mod and playing the new version without starting the game all over, without the need to wait for an update either (mostly why he was one of the best modder out there)
Although that's true, plenty of players will be lost when the update comes, but that's the case everywhere for every games, players not reading, lacking knowledge and doing technical mistakes, and asking again and again the same questions, more comical than anything IMO (people do learn with time and, well, learning is good?..)
Personally I do like the convenience that you don't have to read a pdf during your playthrough but in the end, to each his own way of entertaining themselves (like some people just aren't interested in the story and just skip most of content, clicking on the "right" options thanks to the mod, or like in your example, wanting to have everything in a single playthrough but you're right, READ the damn ReadFirst/Features before installing, just know what you're actually doing...)
I have a case to support you though, Desert Stalker, with a kinda lazy modder, which takes forever to update his mod to the last version of the game, like currently, his last mod version was for the game version of more than 2 months ago... (edit: oh, he actually posted an update a few days ago, waw..)
