Im a fan of Urban Demons. But again, Nergal shows he dont have quality control. He should had learn from UB original and Solarion project.

So how much of a remake is this? Is it just an art update/bug fix or are there writing and story changes.

it's also a remake/alternate universe. in the OG u get hit by a car and almost die. in this one, one of the girls pulls you away in time and the story takes place several years after with different interactions and relations
I think they're confusing Peter being officially aged up in the remake with several years passing since the intro; since as far as I remember nothing implies time passing after the car incident.
But to answer your question, he IS still "evil". Using demon powers to corrupt MILFs is still the 'canon' path so far; Purity options at the moment only being added later based on if funding goals are met (though I wouldn't be surprised if they get added later on anyway after the 'main' game is done even if the goal doesn't get hit).

From how they talk in the character introductions (oddly enough, he knows Jennings, Fred, Amara, Ms. Amos etc etc. However, it seems like they knew him before but nothing major happened between them since Peter just knows who they are and they know who Peter is. Nothing more), it is more of Peter got sent away for a few years and now he is back in town.
And instead of getting hit by a car, Neala(?) saves her from getting hit.
As for his powers, a "demon" just contacts him in his dream. So his powers pretty much just a coincidence this time around.

After playing the old urban demons version that still kinda had neala’a story and more underworld puzzles. And like, a monkey? And a demon village? Remember that?
Then playing the revamped remake where like half the girls were cut out and half the underworld was also cut out
Then not quite finishing thr “finished” version because it was buggy and was still missions down routes
Then not quite finishing the finished finished version, because man, I’ve played through this game multiple times
Time to…experience the exciting urban world with demons! Again! With hopefully not just the same exact stories! And no purity options even though I like being a good boy!

Well either way he was given powers from a demon and was using it to corrupt and mind control people. Break into their houses. Bang people’s wives and moms. Lying about things.
Some of this is framed as innocent, but some stuff don’t really have that excuse.
Also it’s hard to tell if we should “count” this, but the fact that he can go back and forth depending on the situation is interesting.

well, the game does flat out say it's been several years after peter almost got hit. and a lot of the dialogue with the milfs i do believe say how several years has gone by since they moved away
