I know right, imagine doing all that to get a decent paying job when you could release a few updates of a game and be able to afford a months rent every 2 or 3 years.........
do it 100x and that's $4k/mo (better than most day jobs), just use a different dev name and platform account for each. Until then welfare or an upcoming UBI check will make up the difference. A lot of these things are abandoned 0.1's and really short, so it must be marketing or something, since with the AVN itself there's really nothing worth subbing to even when active yet some seem to be doing it anyway.

If you put incest in a game, people will sub to it. Doesn't matter how shit it is, some people here just pay for the kink not the quality.

For years we've seen the same template of boy comes home to a mother and 2 sisters. Younger sister usually loves him, older sister hates him.

No matter how many times we see similar games, people throw money at it.

Incest fans are the easiest to please. A lot of old and dead incest games still have people subbed to them.

yeah I can understand subbing at first when all the kink boxes are checked but staying subbed to a game that's never gonna get another update or it's completed but there's not another one forthcoming? That's just plain dumb.

I think you're overlooking the fact that new players stumble across forums like these and games on different sites without knowing anything about the genre. I remember years ago I was enthralled when I came across a game called Dual Family. Thought the game was pretty awesome, especially being an NSFW game virgin. Come to find out after months of reading and following the thread that the only difference between that dev and a bucket of shit was the bucket. If I just got it from the other site that I downloaded it from, and never stumbled across this site to read its thread, I would have definitely subscribed for months without realizing it was all scam.

Far too many people don't keep a check on their finances. People sub to something and then forget about it because it's only a couple of quid.

You think how many monthly payments your average person makes then one small payment is hardly noticeable.

In addition to the fact that your statement only reflects a single monthly charge from the platform. So if multiple subs, the inactive one (or more) can sneak under the radar easier.

That's my story. Subbed GumDrop for like 6 months till I realized the scam. Then looked it up and found f95. He got me. Got to say, as outdated as it is, that game still hits in a way others don't...much like this one.

Well, Marvel started having health problems. Maybe even possible blindness was reported. So, he may not be with us anymore and maybe that is the fate for those subs as well.... That means Patreon will cash in that ballooning account in the future.

There's still people believeing these stories of devs getting 'sick' even after at least 10 devs used that excuse to abandon games?

It got so bad you had the guy who made Sylphine googling pictures of dicks and balls and posting them to his discord before he abandoned everything

Not really.

Be honest. How many times have you told your boss you were sick when you were really just sick of working?
I sometimes think about this, and my opinion is that it may appear more skewed than it is. This is because f95 states in their rules that they NEVER delete content. So if I wanted to test something to see if it has traction, it will be there forever and searchable, in theory. I've seen many good devs on this forum with multiple completed games, but they still have one or two abandoned games to their name. JMO

Some ideas just need time to gain traction.

Back in 2016, you could make anything and get a following. But the market is so saturated right now. If you don't have a lot of content in your game. Players are reluctant to check the game out.

Why get invested in something that is going to take years to get far enough for me to be able to enjoy it.

She's being sarcastic.

But yeah, I'd love some actual stats on how many adult game devs conveniently lose their eyesight vs every single other profession in the world, not to mention all the other problems they seem to get.

I'm betting if we go by what these devs say on forums they lose their eyesight 5000% more then construction workers, chemists, people using pcs all the time, and whores getting cum in their eyes COMBINED............

Just as an example, this dev, the guy who made offcuts, and I believe the guy who made dual family have all had vision problems and couldn't work. I swear the sylphine dev also claimed to have vision problems once too. I know there were more.
