I think what really sets this game apart is the quality of Chestnut's art. It seems quite unusual to have a game where all the art is produced by one of the devs rather than relying on one of the standard packages for the images of the girls.

The writting is also something that sets it apart imho, because the tongue in cheek in it and the wholesomeness both make it feel refreshing.

Weird. It works fine for everybody else. Could you check the preferences screen and see if you have the 'rollback side' feature enabled? If so, disable it.

I have now disabled the "rollback side" feature, but I'm having the same problem. So currently I'm stuck in the game, and can't progress. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to skip this step in the progression of the game ?

Try loading this save (paste it in the game/saves folder, and it will appear on page 7 of the load/save menu). It's right after clicking Percy so it gets you to the convo menu where you can ask him about Mei's boat. Please note that it's based on a 0.6 full save so everything else is completed (except for the latest Lambert photos)

This game feels like it takes inspiration from the Secret of Monkey Island which would not be surprising since that's one of the most beloved 2D story driven games.

But the environments are masterpieces in this game. And painterly artstyle of the portraits perfectly fit in the backgrounds, UI etc

It's 1.12 GB compressed and 5.7 GB full. I see there's a wrong Gofile link in OP post under compressed section. But mega link is OK.

Yes, that 5 gig hard cap is kinda annoying. Pixeldrain is much better.

Just audio/music in general. I don't think they'll ever add sex sounds, or at least before the game is completed. They have mentioned that sound is the weakest part of their project and they'd want to hire some pros to improve its quality, but only when everything else is finished, to make it a one-time thing.

Honestly, I don't really know, as I play the game (and most other AVNs) without audio at all. But there's people here who can probably answer that, like moskyx .
