I still haven't found the time to play beyond Chapter 1. Months ago I wrote that I was falling asleep while playing Chapter 2 and I remember reading 30 seconds, nodding off for another minute and so on :LUL:, so I only remember Chapter 1.

They say that if you like SG, you'll like this game less, we'll see because SG and its ambient music seems almost perfect to me.

Way back in the day, at the dawn of SG/WiaB, there was Regium (I think their name was Regium, someone more versed in Ocean lore can back me up). TLDR: Stuff happened and now Ocean does everything alone.
Regium was SG, WiaB was only every Ocean. Regium was given SG's script to develop because Ocean was doing the first game first. Ocean helped Regium get up to speed, but Regium let the project go some time in Ch2 development. The patreon accounts were separate because of this (thankfully as it turns out) and there were enough patreons that Ocean didn't want to pause SG. As it turns out, SG steals to the limelight from what Ocean has always made as his first game.

And here we are waiting for a devlog.

Yeah, all of Regium's contributions were wiped when Ch1 was reworked. I can't help wonder how far into both games we would be if he never dipped. I imagine WiaB would still have been reworked.

Wondering how it would go: SG wouldn't be around, in all the multiverse, Regium abandoned SG (probably for a day job offer). Ocean hasn't abandoned either. So there's that.

Most people dissing on WiaB are dissing it on fact that it hasn't caught up to the amount of story progress in old WiaB, that Willi hasn't boned anyone other than Miru, yet hold up SG as an example of a better game. It's weird to me. WiaB has the clearer goal, storywise: "let's find out what happened to Helen, before! Let's start a criminal enterprise to fund our batcave of operations! Let's take over this town so no one can do this again! Yay!" Don't get me wrong, I love SG, but Helen carrying a handcannon? All kinds of potential lewd scenes or at least strong teasing with Kata, Katie and Leia? Damn. Ch4 is going to be wild. Drugs, sex, guns, and Leia's club will do for the rock and roll I gues, there are cowboy hats.

Going back to the original point, I think SG would be a worse game. Ocean was the quality control from the start, and Regium couldn't keep up to the standard. Ch2 Ocean basically took over because Regium couldn't deliver. I don't think Regium's heart was in it, simply because it wasn't his story. I kinda feel Ocean really likes telling stories, so I feel it's better placed with him. IDK, maybe SG would be finished, Ch3 Summer got transfered to ZPR and it was just a standard college game, with an emo dick of a character. This way is better, for both games. It also means that OCean's easter eggs with crossovers make sense, and he knows how much he's giving away to either game.

We do know the dark path was essentially dropped when Regium left, probably for the best. I do enjoy the current universe but I have trouble remembering anything story wise beyond the breakfast in WiaB.

WiAB Chapter 4 - Dev Log #26

Hello,

The log is a few hours later than usual because of what always happens during release-weeks. (Not SG’s release.)

My sleep schedule keeps rotating during these times.

I had to take a step back earlier this week to reset my stress levels.

I can manage to work 14 hours a day for many, many months, but as soon as I get into a release window, I start to struggle with sleep. It becomes “a more pressuring matter” when I start losing weight.

At least I get shredded.

If I only do one or two things, I can work all day, but during release times, there’s so much more to take care of and it slurps me out harder than Vic slurps a juice box.

Add Steam and GOG preparations to this and we have bingo.

I think it’s worse this time due to the pressure I put on myself on getting the updates out.

However, I’m smart enough to recognize when I step over a red line, and I need to take it a little easier. I don’t want to fall back into what happened in 2020/2021 and get depressed/bibi-burnout.

In the past 14 days I focused primarily on animations, but later stopped, and instead did still renders for SG while also juggling postwork.

In the last few days, though, I focused entirely on postwork. I can do around 500 renders a day without losing my mind. It heavily depends on how many renders I find that I need to redo.

I'm probably half done, and noted down 31 renders that I need to redo. I finished most of the lewd animations, however, the last ones took over 48h to render. Those were animations with 300 frames.

I've tested a way to implement the collectibles. So that's sorted out. I will have to create a new gallery for it, so that's added on top now.

I will do that gallery while Steam tests the game and I still need to create the cinematic, and will start that soon.

I will reduce the hours I work for the next week by about 25% to improve my mental health. I always get blasted during release weeks, but this time, it's especially bad.

I'll take no risks with mini-burnouts.

If that leaves a sour taste, please feel free to unsubscribe until I release the update.

No previews because we're close to the release.

I created Chapter covers for the first four Chapters.

I attached all four Chapter covers at the bottom in full resolution.

Boring personal Germany stuff from here on. You can stop reading here if you only care about game news.

There are other things that worry me, I don’t like what’s happening in Germany right now. A lot of talk about tax increases. (Income tax from 42% to 47%) Capital gain tax from 25% to 30%.

And this is without the social taxes on top. Which also increase every year.

But the biggest worry is a topic that I've been eying for a few years.

The government’s plan to include self-employed people under 30/35 into the state pension. This is a black hole of death. What my generation puts in there, is GONE.

That system will collapse.

And soon they’re probably going to force me in it. Best case is 18.6% of my monthly pre-tax income on top of everything else.

I think it’s a cumulation of all these little things that worry me.

I’ve been thinking about a certain "move" for a while, and two weeks ago, I canceled the lease for my apartment, and I’ll temporarily move back to my parent’s house in order to plan ahead for the next Chapters, and to eventually leave the country in the next 9-16 months... But that's a big IF because of the exit tax.

Afterwards, even if I get forced to pay the pension for a few months, I should still be able to buy licenses, etc.

The move in 3 months will take a day and development continues as usual. It won't be noticeable.

Back to Miru.

Again humble thanks for keeping us informed. I guess this means it's going to be submitted to steam and gog around the next devlog then, give or take. Hopefully it'll be quicker than SG S1 because it's not trying to avoid adult status.

The good thing about early access is it's no a finished product, so there'a always a chance Ocean will release and tweak instead of over-focusing... wait, who am I kidding? :coffee::rolleyes: Still, update is so close, yet so far, yet so CLOSE!!!

What is it? Abandoned? I see no vital sign on SubscribeStar.
Devlog was just released, should be on SS. Scroll down past the pinned posts. Or look up to c.mork's post on this page, you can read all about it.

~30 renders left, and postwork, odds and ends. Then steam. So next devlog or the one after, maybe the one after that if steam is being a bother.

While I understand the positive mood, I would not put or speculate with times... 30 renders are the ones he has/wanted to redo so far (being that there is still more than half of the post work to be done, there could be even more renders).
There are still missing animations and, as I know, the cinematic. Then it would enter the stage of final coding, polishing and beta testing. Then send to the curators and give them enough time, then after the feedback send the approval request to publish it on Steam.
It can be 15 days, 30, 45, 60... Ocean is a little touched by the presure and his own needs.

I think he is gonna abandon it at some point when he's too old and sickly to make more updates on the game. It's taking this long for an episode! god knows when he'll finish it and god knows if we are going to be alive that long or not.

Well, if you're not alive anymore, WiaB will be the least of your concerns, so it's not a big deal.
