There's also a moment where Zeke says Julia looks at the MC with the same look "someone" used to look at him. It may be Kim he's referring to, but I do think he means Keyla.
I think this desperation was that he knew Keyla and MC were doing stuff, and she was going to break up with him, so he proposed to her so she wouldn't.
Maybe it doesn't make much sense, but it's what I can think of too
I was thinking the same thing, Zeke knew *Kayle was cheating on him with Mc. He didn't like Kayle but he did it out of anger and jealousy towards Mc.

Or there is a small possibility that Zeke was forced by his family to marry *Kayle.

No need to look for a logical reason when even the developer calls Zeke and *Kayle stupid. :BootyTime:

Starting to go around in a circle as some of these details have been covered at length in previous posts.

Zeke proposed to Keyla out of desperation; and I don't recall seeing any reason given for why he was so desperate, yet. I've never seen any indication he did it out of anger or jealousy. He was cheating on Keyla with "all those sorority girls..." so why would he be jealous or angry that Keyla cheated with one person? With both of the conversations they have with Sarah or MC, neither seemed to love or care for the other and both had lousy reasons to get married at all.

Thankfully Chaquinn writes his code pretty clearly for whos' talking as I didn't happen to have a save near this spot and didn't feel like skipping through to this Chapter 3 conversation. See line 5 of the scene.

Python:
scene ch3_zeke_talk1_42 with dissolve
...Zeke "Yesterday on my way home I had made up my mind."
Zeke "I wasted both our lives long enough."
    scene ch3_zeke_talk1_43 with dissolve
Zeke "Sometimes I even ask myself if I ever even loved her."
Zeke "I proposed to her... out of... desperation."
    scene ch3_zeke_talk1_44 with dissolve
    MC "Desperation?"
    scene ch3_zeke_talk1_45 with dissolve
    Zeke "…"
    scene ch3_zeke_talk1_42 with dissolve
Zeke "Never mind, it’s done now anyway."
Zeke "Since we bought the house together, we’ll put it up for sale and split 50/50. I’ll keep my car, and she’ll keep hers."
    scene ch3_zeke_talk1_46 with dissolve
Zeke "I’ll rent a room nearby for a few weeks until I find a place."
Zeke "I told her she can stay in the house since her parents don’t live here, not really sure what she will do, but I don’t think she will stay there either."
    ...
I'm hoping to find out what he considered "desperation" enough to propose to someone he doesn't think he ever loved.

Even though none of the girls want to go, except for Candace, the MC calls to take them to the downtown Christmas event, where Zeke will be with his new girlfriend. Taking Keyla there would be a terrible idea, so I guess that's why she's not an option.
i get it now thx for explanation but letting them would be an interesting plot too

Certainly makes sense. So all we'll need now is an option to leave and 'Go See Keyla' :devilish:

He does invite them, and like you said they all decline and offer alternatives, except for Candace, who hasn't been there before.

I was somewhat disappointed that he didn't even have the option to at least call Keyla. At the very least, if not for immediate romantic interests, to hang out again and be there for her in the hopes of getting more information. It'll be hard to make an informed decision on if I accept what she did and why, for the reasons she gave, without a thorough talk with her. Even if she didn't want to tell the MC her feelings and wreck things with MC/Kim, why would she feel so desperate as to marry someone she admits she didn't love? MC and Kim were only dating, who's to say they'd have stayed together or even gotten engaged?

Again, despite the resident therepist arguing otherwise, real life tell you that people get together/married for all sorts of the dumbest reasons under the sun possible....often because they got pregnant which has to be right up there as one of the most idiotic. Yet people do it every day....

....Hell there's even a reality show about getting married these days. Need I say more?

Oh I fully agree that it's really done for wrong reasons. The reasons she gave, that she was desperate because the MC was with someone else seems like a shallow/cop out answer to me though.

Her being at University and pretty young seems to a bit odd to simply say "I was scared to spend the rest of my life alone as the MC was dating someone else". Maybe I'm overthinking it.... and it's really just that shallow.

When Chaquin released the overhaul update, don't know if by accident he put the download links with these banners (see spoilers below), but he deleted them minutes later.

If he keeps consistent with how he did with past updates, the girls in the chapter banners get quite a bit more content and their romance start in that chapter. So looking at it this way, Keyla will likely get a lot of things in ch4.
