Starter cards are a b**ch to find. Defense, Dodge, Strike. Farming and farming all the difficult monsters and exploring (game has been finished for hours) and not found a single one. If you can't find more, you can't upgrade them.

They are starters because they're basic, can't be upgraded and won't carry you anywhere. If you keep them in your deck long-term, you're basically taking a knife to a gunfight. To be honest, I did keep them on mine way too long as well, because there's a lot of single action simple things in there. Especially the buffs/debuffs.

Not sure i've seen any other cards that give defense or dodge. Maybe as a package deal and higher cost. I'd pay celestial? angelic? coins to get some more so i could upgrade mine.

There's an existing bug/issue that was supposedly resolved in version 0.3.1d according to the game's Discord channel.

A good amount of cards are being impacted by this issue, both basic starter deck cards as well as monster cards among others too.

I've been personally waiting for this version to be released since Vic stated he fixed the issue in v0.3.1d back on Oct. 28 so that we finally have access to most of the cards we've been unable to acquire all this time. Unfortunately Vic decided to pull another Houdini at this time. :(

The starter deck cards can in fact be upgraded like most of the other cards, if we were able to obtain duplicates of them as rewards like we can the other cards.

As long as they have empty stars at the top of their card, it's an upgradeable card.

In the following screenshot, you can see Kick and Dodge both have empty star slots indicating they are upgradeable:

Sure you could upgrade them, but I have not seen any of them in the wild after the game start. So how could you actually upgrade them?

Wish I could be as optimistic as you are but I'm beginning to think the whole coming back was to reignite interest in the game so that he could re-up his Patreon subscribers. One of the reasons I believe this is due to him not being forthcoming with how much his Patreon subscribers are providing him monetary wise towards the game's development. This information can be provided for everyone to see on the Patreon front page if they so choose to reveal this information like this Patreon developer is doing here but Vic is one of those who is choosing not to reveal this information:

In my eyes, that's a red flag that it's more about the money, not being transparent on this front.

Anyway, with their war with Russia, he could have been bombed for all we know which I also realize in the back of my mind so I hate to think this way but given that I am all the same, I'm not going to be disingenuous and act like I'm not doing so and acting as if everything is hunky-dory.

Just me being somewhat bitter that v0.3.1d wasn't released when it was so close to being so. Not that his health isn't paramount here, I get that. Just sucks he comes back after the health hiatus issues, he clarifies he wasn't dead during that whole episode and details that he'll remain in regular contact without going MIA this go around, yet here we are again.

I hope that's not the case I was hoping for 0.3.1d also.

I could swear last month I seen that info on his Patreon page thought it said he had 136 subscribers but I don't see that now maybe I'm confusing with someone else .

I'll probably wait till the end of the month and see if we get any post or update on anything if nothing will suspend Patreon till something shows up

No, you can still see his subscribers on Patreon, you just could never see the amount those subscribers are pledging is all.

Some Patreons make this information available while many others do not. It's hit or miss who does and who doesn't. It just doesn't look good to me, those who don't provide this info, if they're not good at churning out regular updates on the project they're accepting donations for, in my eyes.
