What the actual fuck? Does Patreon just want a lot of people to drop? Man a lot of my small pledges will go away because paying a 20-40% fee for each one is stupid.
I easily had 30 pledges in the $1-5 range, for pretty much anything that looked good, that I appreciated. From an animation on Sankaku Complex to the Jimmy Dore show getting DE-monetised on YouTube. With the way BitCoin is blowing up today, EVERYONE is going to have a crypto wallet PDQ and KILL Patreon.
Eh, with the way Bitcoin is gonna crash hard soon enough, I doubt it's a big problem for Patreon.
I'm calling BS, sure I make 30 $1-5 donations, but Patreon only hits me with a single charge, not 30. and sure the artists I support get hundreds or thousands of donations, but they get cut a single payment per month. This is a cash-grab when my ~$100 bill goes up 30%. I'm sure the artists love it since they get half of it. Right up until folks start closing their accounts at the 30$ jump. It's like with credit cards where Apu pays the credit card fee, but if that 2-3% CC fee lands on ME I'm Far less likely to use it.
Every Patreon I've seen as had to put a post out saying it's not their fault and that they wish they could reverse it. Looks like Patreon really fucked up good on this one, hopefully they reverse the decision.
i really hope it changes soon and i would love to see a free play mode or something, where you can just fuck all the different people and so on without any of the grind.
