Just different aspects of the story hooked you faster. I got more into the story of the MC trying to obtain the Eternum chip, then getting into Eternum. The train ride, chatting with Chang, going to school, all that stuff was just intro and did not really catch my attention as I was trying to see past that surface. I guess I am more of an entree kind of guy rather than an appetizer type of guy.
I saw Annie in the first scene and knew I had to continue. I had heard Eternum was a GOAT AVN, so I was already interested in seeing it through, but Annie is what hooked me straight away.

Yeah, I have the same issue. I am not into tattoos but I like Alex's personality and Luna is a bit of a girl next door Wednesday Adams vibe. Nova is just too nutty and cute not to like.
I tried this game 3 different times - and always end up closing it without finishing. And not returning.
But it's constant placing at the very top of the ratings is bothering me.
Is it becoming better with time, or what's up with this game?

//I'm genuinely curious - don't want to miss out on a great game. But I just can't help getting bored every time I play it.
A bunch of others have chimed in, but I'm not sure any of them have really managed a solid answer. So I'm curious to come at this from a different direction: What about Eternum put you off, or was there anything in particular that landed on you as not very compelling? Poking at that might help determine if you'd enjoy the game more if you stuck it out a while to get through the parts you find boring, or if it's just not your jam in general.
