Tbh they aren't totally wrong. They are developing a game for a niche community. Its simple math. If there aren't a lot of people interested on it, those who are have to pay more to keep it going.
Developing software ain't cheap nor easy.
If developing at a snail pace is what it takes to keep it going and there are people still willing to pay for it I see nothing wrong.
Currently on Patreon they are making ~10k usd/month. That is not a lot for developing a game. On the US that is not even enough to keep 2 full time entry-level software developer. A game usually takes multiple ones. Idk if they have other sources of income.

I believe they would benefit way more if they expended the reach of the game by officially allowing humanoid characters, but this would require them to change platform.
And changing platform can be a very risk move because you can end up losing more users than gaining.
People really gotta stop whining about "muh humans". It's blatantly obvious that this isn't aimed to make humans. Full stop.
However, you did get me realizing they can potentially get some funding for it for fans of human by making a parallel version of the software with only humans in it and making another donation page for that since the core of this wouldn't really change. Only the models. So it'd be getting funding from multiple ends for the same cause. Maybe they could commission a human 3d modeler or something for that one and it wouldn't knock up the costs much since it'd be a one-time thing.

I don't think developer was greedy, It's was for living expenses.
Developer made this gamefiles, so developer needing price.
They ARE greedy because the logic of losing money on piracy doesnt actually work if you think a bit about it:

Game costs 30$
People dont want to pay
People pirate
Pirating becomes impossible
People still dont want to pay

The end of the circle is that the people who didnt want to pay are still not paying a dime but in the meantime the honest customers get shat on as development time gets wasted on anti-piracy features instead of the development of the actual game and in plenty of cases they even get hit with downright malicious anti-piracy features that completely fuck them over.

And what of people that wants Furry x Human or Kemonomimi?
The game already supports human interactions if you know how to use blender. That is why I said "officially".
And if you don't believe me there is this one and here is my Q-Bee from Darkstalkers and a small sample of my never ending list of of custom offsets.

Still farm from perfect but way better than my first attempt at a human head.
I'm not happy with how the mouth move. I have to rework it but I don't feel like doing it anytime soon.
This took weeks of trying to achieve. I only started taking 3D modeling more seriously a few months ago (~dez/2024).

1. I said "isn't aimed". Not "isn't supported though modding/modders/modelers". I mean officially speaking, the devs don't care to expend the effort to make those themselves. I don't think they're going to stop users from making their own, though that's yet to be seen since it might go against the platform's arbitrary terms. More of a "tough luck" scenario if no one steps up to make said model(s). And on that note:
2. There was a dust-up a while back on patreon's ToS about humans x furry/non-human. Lotta creators got fucked from it.
3. This is why I said that it wouldn't be a bad idea to just make a separate "human" branch that doesn't cross over the models to each other. Or at least not blatantly. Maybe they could have them "link" it if you're subbed to both or something, but that still runs a risk of some idiot reporting them because they just feel like it. Another thing they should've done by now is also make a substar.

Ah yes, the myth of lost sales. Where not every pirated copy is a lost sale, but inadvertently screwing your customer with a worse product can very much make you lose a sale from bad rep. 'ere's a good vid that discusses the idea (yes, it's over a decade old)

Guys you keep forgetting something.

Patreon doesnt allow bestiality and their definition of bestiality is downright fucked. They got people banned who made kemonomimis before, anything that mixes humans with animals is at the utter mercy of the admin that looks at your page and their own definition of what counts as fuckin an animal.

We know. We also know that Patreon is not the only creator support platform in the internet.
If I'm not mistaken a lot of creators moved to Subscribestar during the Patreon purge.

the problem with this take is that furryvne isn't.. yknow. actual real representations of horses and dogs + it's more stylized. if this was the case every project like wildlife would be wiped. also, hi. how's the project going sofar? I didn't see anything break out of the shell yet.

Last version added the ability to use custom sounds. Imo this is a pretty good new feature. Have yet to test it out since I'm not a Patreon.

Thats why i said their definition of what is what is incredibly fucked and it does look like they are much more lenient with projects that earn big.

Anybody got the latest version?

Unless I fucked up installing the crack posted here, lots of new models and interactions can't be used since the client needs to be the same version the character/interaction was made in, and our version here is outdated by a month or two.
