People really gotta stop whining about "muh humans". It's blatantly obvious that this isn't aimed to make humans. Full stop.Tbh they aren't totally wrong. They are developing a game for a niche community. Its simple math. If there aren't a lot of people interested on it, those who are have to pay more to keep it going.
Developing software ain't cheap nor easy.
If developing at a snail pace is what it takes to keep it going and there are people still willing to pay for it I see nothing wrong.
Currently on Patreon they are making ~10k usd/month. That is not a lot for developing a game. On the US that is not even enough to keep 2 full time entry-level software developer. A game usually takes multiple ones. Idk if they have other sources of income.
I believe they would benefit way more if they expended the reach of the game by officially allowing humanoid characters, but this would require them to change platform.
And changing platform can be a very risk move because you can end up losing more users than gaining.
However, you did get me realizing they can potentially get some funding for it for fans of human by making a parallel version of the software with only humans in it and making another donation page for that since the core of this wouldn't really change. Only the models. So it'd be getting funding from multiple ends for the same cause. Maybe they could commission a human 3d modeler or something for that one and it wouldn't knock up the costs much since it'd be a one-time thing.
