2 floors makes it feel like a boarding house...10 makes it a hotel and currently not many are paying for the lodgings as well.
Keeping in mind that a maid is on each floor in a room so far 2 . Leaving 3 rooms for hotel guests per floor means 30 guests and 10 maids seems like a good number to me. Summertime Saga would be close to having around the same number of characters for comparison. Why not make it different from other projects most usually have a dozen or less people. Why does there have to be a limit to characters or story opportunities.

Never said there had to be. But I want genuinely fun characters that have depth. Not just sticks with great tits. Each charecter has their own issues, desires (you being the focal point. Lmao) and quirks. If runey can have 10 floors full of charecters of this caliber then by all means do it. Even the side characters are interesting.

I'm not able to juggle so many characters and their stories at once. It's been a while since I've played STS, but I don't believe it was as story driven as HH is. More characters will be added eventually but I need to finish the current ones. That is why there is a limit on main characters.
I think there will be 12 main characters at most, I have solid plans for 2 more right now. Each main character usually gets a side character that will stick with them. And each main character has many opportunities to spawn side characters from their stories.

Who are these sticking side characters? Genuine question my friend as some are obvious and others not so much.
Lin - Obv best girl Jin
Kali - sister Lucie
Ashley - the goth girl? Kate?
Maria - recently reunited adopted sister
Android - Ellen? maybe the newly added doctor?
The Twins - each other neither are side characters and openly confess they no one but each other and the HH Mains.
Autumn - safe bet we will be seeing more of her sister as the story progress.
Still exciting to see plans for 2 full main characters are in place. Is one of these the 'third maid' you had in mind a few months back that you teased in comments?
Side charecters...there's Kate, Nia, Ann, Sylvia, Maria's "sister", Ellen. And more i can't think of at the moment.
Lucy is one of my favorite side characters, so I can't believe I forgot about her. I figure that the reason why I forgot about Jin might be because she does the least for me out of all of the characters.

I confess that I can have some difficulty answering her questions when we're on the date, but that's only because of a few where I'd want to answer "Yes" and that's not one of the options.
