This one's a fairly easy fix. Look for the value $victoriasjournal.unshiftUnique and replace it with $victoriajournal.unshiftUnique
There's an extra S in there pointing it to the wrong defined value.

Open the html file with a text editor (Notepad++ or some such), search for $victoriasjournal.unshiftUnique and remove the extra "s".
No idea if that fixes anything though, haven't tried playing it yet.

Worked for me after removing the extra "s".
Maybe you forgot to save or to close and re-open the game.

There is no option to call reception, asked mum photo, go to motel free room, no option to call
