The eastern lands are steppe inhabited by Orcs.

And yes, I very much hope we'll tap an orc lady since they used to obey the golder order. :BootyTime:
By introducing female orcs this game can go very right or very wrong. Female orcs always embody some short of heavy femdom, not really my cup of tea but hey! I won't blame you if you like green pussy :HideThePain:
you said nothing about how they differ tho
I think you do know how Russia and France differ from each other, but here I go:

The main difference was the manner how religion was organized. In the west there was well-fucntioning Roman Catholic Church, while in the east there was pro-Constantinople Orthodox Church. Because of this the Orthodox Church was even more heavily politized than Roman Catholic Church, and as Byzantium weakened and local states grew in their power autonomous Orthodox Churches sprung up.
Also, the initial Kievan Rus' Orthodox Church was extremely weak. If you look what the first Metropolitans of Kiev did, you find nothing worthy of mentioning which is rather weird as we are well into historical era. This only means that the existing records were deliberately censored, and when it comes to Russia this likely means to hide rather embarrassing political incidents. To give some ideas how wild these times were, Vladimir who Christianized Kievan Rus' first considered converting to Judaism (Khazarians were Jews back then), but rejected this as God had clearly abandoned Jews for they did no longer lived in Israel. Then Vladimir considered Islam and actually was quite found of this religion for it allowed him to have multiple of wives, but then rejected it as Islam forbade alcohol. According to Russian sources Vladimir said: Drinking is the joy of all Rus'. We cannot exist without its pleasure. This is a real historical quote! Then came the turn of Catholic Church and of this Vladimir found just boring, before realizing how awesome the Orthodox faith was and converted (yes, the propaganda is heavy here).
Basically feudalism in Western Europe was much more decentralized than the Kievan Rus. Technically French, German and English kings WERE the heads of state, but they were dependent on local barons, counts, dukes and knights who often could exercise quite a lot of autonomy. Nation states weren't really a thing in Western Europe until the 1700s
Overall it is rather pointless to compare western and eastern feudalism to each other. Yaroslav was the last strong ruler of Kievan Rus' after which this state simply collapsed and for a century there was a constant civil war between numerous local princes. This civil war only came to an end when Mongols arrived and pretty much destroyed Russia, after which two centuries of Tatar Yoke was followed. Meanwhile in the west matters were much more peaceful, and while English, French, and German monarchies remained relatively powerless they never encountered calamities like Russians did.

And that's a totally lies. First of all Kievan Rus at mentioned period was a typical tribal kingdom ruled by a clan. Probably only at time of Yaroslav's rule it started to shape into real feudal state. And then it was never centralized in any sense bunch of princes with constant war with each other. If we take other slavic states like Poland or Moravia once again they were not more centralized then Francias or Lotharingia. If we are talking about Eastern Roman empire as an "East". Yes it was much more centralized, rather burecracy than feudal state. But amount of emperors who was dethroned and killed there is enormous. So in any sense no emperor or king at that period couldn't do whatever he likes breaking cultural and religious norms of own society. Otherwise their rule was very short.

Purely off of the cast that we know of. I would say Alaina is a sure bet. Since she seems to be plotting heavily in the background and there's a chance that she's even going behind Queen Mommy back. Likely willing to even backstab her. That's also without mentioning that I think Alaina is the only one equal to Queen in magic enough for her to get that serious. Obviously excluding Elin.

That said, seeing as it's an elf. If it's a new character, I can see it being used as a way to stir conflict in the elven faction. Since so far they've been untouched in the current fallout. And by conflict, I mean the elf is some rogue that's hired by another faction to try to kill Queen. Whether they succeed or not, will cause some chaos. Or this can be a plot the elves thought of with Queen to draw attention away from something else entirely. Assuming it's an elf in the first place.

Just a few guesses. Queen looks a bit too pissed for it too be some casual encounter. I guess we'll see soon.

There is the thief from the beginning who managed to escape with the horse, perhaps she returned with the intention of taking revenge on the MC if he did not free the captured elf. I think Val is her name.

Val is too weak to even beat MC. Whether he's magic based or a warrior. I don't think Queen would have much trouble with someone of her level. That includes her sister/companion that escaped. Especially when MC is vastly weaker than Queen with magic. At least from what he's shown of his power.

In a battle it could be, but it seems to be at night and by the style of the clothing, a murder while sleeping I believe is quite realistic...

I guess you can think that? But Val hasn't shown anywhere near the level of confidence or competence to pull something like that off. Seems too far-fetched in my view. Especially when, again, MC managed to dominate her. Besides, going by the picture, she failed, if it's her. Which also means, she's going to lose since it reached the point that it's a fight.

I can 100% see Alaina doing it. Or some totally unknown elf. Since they would be blank slates. But Val? Nah.

Oh no... sorry, maybe there's some confusion due to the translator.
Val can't even steal a horse, let alone be a stealthy assassin...
I'm referring to her friend who managed to escape...
If we had executed the val, she would have a reason to try to kill us...

The two elf sisters at the beginning of the game were Val and Alessa. Val is the one who was captured; Alessa is the one who was up in a tree. Val has shoulder-length blonde hair; Alessa has long red hair. I don't see either of those descriptions fitting the Queen's opponent in that preview.

One other possibility is that this is someone who has come through one of the portals created by the MC and Elin. This would be more likely if the MC is a Mage.

Another thing that I would like to mention is that, given that there are so many branching paths, we might never see this scene if we aren't on the right path for it.

Yeah, this might not even be a "canon" scene, LM has been doing some crazy branching as of late, for better or worse.
