VN - Ren'Py - Light of My Life [Ch.8 v0.8.2] [Naughty Road]

I initially really liked this one. But over the course of the game it turned from a slow burn into more of a voyeurism focus on Denise and her modest 2 person harem.

I'd like to know how the MC doesn't hear them making love in their room at night. Worse he actually hears them at one point on the vacation and writes it off. This isn't me complaining about being cucked but it takes forever to get to what I really want. Macy. By then you've had to put up with these weird rubbing sessions with Denise renaming body parts and shit like she isn't a senior in high school or has regressed mentally.

I even took a break when I realized I made the decision that Macey was not a virgin when Denise asked just to spite her, like she was swooping in to take what's mine and I denied her heh. Anyways, I picked it up again but decided to just stop with the visit to the school. Denise forcing the scene in the bathroom in a place she's TERRIFIED of being was too much. Especially considering that all the hints on up to this point imply that mebbe her and her long lost friend were possibly caught fooling around right in this very school.

I don't like how she just takes over your life and Macy's and gets to lay her hands on her first personally. I also don't like that while she's clearly fooling around with Macy she also has expectations for you only being loyal to her and by extension her sister as well and convinces Macy to avoid intimacy with you while continuing to be intimate with both of you.

For what it's worth I really think Naughty Road has a fair hand at writing a game and the visuals while decidedly un-animated are pretty decent. He's put a lot of effort into it. I really like everything with the girls at the office and I sincerely think this would be a better game if at the very least Denise wasn't actually dominating the household (literally in Macy's case). It would be fine without her even.

You would not have most of the lesbian content without her admittedly which is what most people are here for. After all, the payoff you're all waiting for is just encounters like the night she got you all drunk so she could finger fuck her sister on you while you (how can she out drink you btw?) just handwave it...

Macy wouldn't need help changing her relationship with the MC and when it finally started there would still be plenty of game left to chew through. What to do about the girls at the office, how the impact of losing another person dear to her affects her. Maybe even see more of what SHE got up to in the past few years just to throw some of that sweet sweet lesbian sex that features so prominently in this game.

Instead we're relegated to what we're allowed to have by a scheming garden gnome who won't even let us drink coffee...

highly recommended visual novel. It excels in dialogue, character development, renders, atmosphere, setting, and the incorporation of mature content. It stands as a testament to the power of storytelling and visual aesthetics, providing an engaging gaming experience for fans of the genre.
the renders are subjective pleasing or off putting but the detail of those characters work wonders

A great story that would tell a touching story of a family dealing with life altering tragedy even without the lewd parts.
When it comes to romance it is a very slow burn which is good but I personally wish the elder "ward" got more of the limelight.
One thing I will note is that even though I have really enjoyed the story and romance while reading through the AVN these last couple days my score would probably be lower if I had been following this game from all the way back into 2019 because it is probably a little too slow burn as a game with multi-year development for my tastes.
It can also be a little repetitive but so is real life and it is telling the daily story of a family.
I would recommend everyone support this developer if they can and I look forward to @naughtyroad's future projects.

Up to chapter 7

There is a lot of good is this VN but I couldn't finish it. Good renders and I liked the untypical body types, very refreshing. The characters are easy to bond with and the story progression has a good tempo; slow burn works for me. The developer has spent a lot of time with this project and it shows. I would've given it a full 5 stars had it not been for a major issue... for me at least.

Why couldn't I finish it? Well, it felt like I was driving on a road with large, unavoidable speed bumps every 100 feet that forced you to almost come to a complete stop to get over them. The speed bumps are all the unnecessary, inconsequential dialogue choices that you have to deal with, which killed the flow and momentum. It was like playing dialogue choice Whack-A-Mole! So much so that frustration slowly turned into disinterest. It was so distracting that it took all the fun out of it. I opened up the game a few more times and tried to finish but the barrage of meaningless choices kept ejecting me. I think I made it to the middle of chapter 6. I don't understand why so many choices are needed...

What a great game with lovable characters and coherent story for a change!

You can really feel the effort and love that went into designing the "wards". I do appreciate that the characters don't have that stock look so many other rendered VNs have, although I understand that their looks can take some getting used to for some people. They certainly grew on me.

The slow-burn nature of this VN makes the lewd parts simply that much more enjoyable. The story is heartwarming and even touching at times, way more than "needed" for a porn game. I do appreciate that since it stands out from a lot of other games in this genre.

The sheer amount of innuendo and wordplay, especially in some of the later chapters, even made me chuckle sometimes and I'm not easily amused.

All in all, this is a great game which I wholeheartedly recommend. 5/5

Conclusion:
This game is probably the most difficult one for me to review, because you can see that a lot of effort was put in to this game.
There are things done differently, than what you'll see in other games, which I appreciate quite a bit.
But what counts at the end of the day is, if this was a good gameplay experience, and to that I have to say absolutely not.
I can understand people liking this game and it's story, but for me it was a terribly dull experience.
The storytelling kinda reminds me of TV-shows who have a story for two seasons, trying to stretch it to five seasons.
It becomes incredibly boring, repetitive and annoying to keep following the same and same cycle this story presents to you.
Many times I was so close to just quit, because it was a chore, and it turned out that my initial feelings were right, because there wasn't anything that felt engaging or rewarding after the first 3-4 episodes.
The scenes are really lackluster and have these weird effects on them.
The Main Character feels unimportant, just like the choices you are offered.
This game is so repetitive and slow-burn, in a milking pace, that you could've just tighten it all up to maybe 3-4 chapters, fine-tune the scenes and have a good game.
But this one is a hit and a miss, and therefore I can't recommend this game.

Simply put, this VN is built around the youngest 'ward' more than any other single character, so if you find yourself enjoying her and her journey you might easily forgive - or indeed not even notice - the repetitiveness other reviews have already touched upon.

Unfortunately it wasn't so for me, and with the eldest 'ward' - by far my favorite - getting relegated to a glorified side-character spot (by comparison, her sister has 4x her scenes and about 10x her overall presence) and the MC similarly devolving into a narrative device, but one with a dick... well, not much to stimulate the fantasy, or anything else.

A shame because the VN is quite lovingly crafted, but i suppose therein lies the problem. It's not really a game and you can't really influence much, especially in later chapters, so you either like it or you don't, and all in all i unfortunately just happen not to.

I guess I can only repeat what has already been said. I really enjoyed it for not being like any other game I played. Apart from a decent story and good writing, that stops you from skipping text, I find the models very refreshing, after initial shock, they really grew on me and started to really enjoy looking at it. I became very fond of the characters and can't seem to pick a new game to try because of the generic models. I recommend it.

Slow burner for sure, but extremely satisfying because of characters you get surprisingly attached to. A bit on the nose at some points, but there's a bit of everything for everyone in this.

And the fact that the models are different than what you're used to inVNs is very refreshing (I must confess to a strong latina bias on my part though).

Edit : I also recommend trying many words for body parts. Some of the bonus messages are hilarious.

I have avoided this game for so long, checked it but did not like the look of the girls.
But now I have been playing for a few days and this is a really good VN. One of the few were I really follow the dialog. Slow burn but in this case only good.
I hope the it is a lot more of this story and I hope the watersport takes a bigger part.

Love me relateable games, which make me laugh, cry and nut in one sitting.

The writing is very enjoyable and the characters likeable. The story has just the right amount of goofiness to soften your dick so you can keep masturbating for a couple of hours straight.
The parts between the chapters and how the "tutorial" works shows the dedication of this non-virgin developer.

Edit: Fuck me, now that I'm about to finish the 7th chapter my dick hasn't been out in a while, because I'm crying my balls out every couple minutes. This is a massive W for the Eroge scene.
Chad Developer with Chad storyline + life experience

Reviewing this game has been a bit tricky, as it didn't quite match my initial expectations. The storyline itself is charming, and I particularly enjoyed the writing style. The characters are rememberable and nicely showcased by the developer. However, there was a slight issue of excess. It felt like preparing a delicious dinner, only to overcook it.

I found some parts of the story that needed to be read to progress to the next level of actions to be somewhat like fillers. While I wouldn't have minded it if they were more interesting, they seemed to follow a repetitive pattern, making it feel like a bit of a chore. In a good book, even the slower parts keep you engaged, but this game didn't quite hit the mark in that regard.

Overall, the story is interesting, but I'd rate the game as fairly average for now. There's potential, but the game seems to be struggling with an excess of less engaging content, preventing it from reaching its full potential.

Update 2 Stars:

I kept on reading, hoping things would get better, but by the time I hit chapter 6, I had to give up. It felt like the game was just going around in circles, repeating the same stuff over and over again.

All my senses told me to skip some of the text at one point but I forced myself to read. The scenes were not good in this game either, thanks to the developer's puzzling choice of adding a blur effect to still images in an attempt to create depth of field. It ended up giving me a slight headache. Adding to the disappointment, there isn't much sexy content in this game and most were quite bad, with weird distances and poses.

But the real problem, at least for me, was how much the game repeated itself. Yeah, the story and characters had their moments, but they were overshadowed by this never-ending cycle of monotony.

There's a lot to like, especially in the early stages with the ultra slow burn. As the story progresses though, the dialog becomes less surprising and more repetitive. I started to become annoyed at the two "wards" for their lack of depth outside of the MC's life. Ultimately, I was glad I had reached the end and could move on from it.

A really beautiful game. The humor is great, there are some genuinely touching moments. The game does very well at characterizing the protagonist. I actually teared up a little for him at certain parts.

The art style is wonderful. Both of the girls are beautiful and it's nice to see some love for Latinas and women who don't look like porn stars. Thank you for sharing your work.

This is definitely NOT a regular 'porn'-game. It's something different. Something bigger and better.
This game achieves something interesting: Introducing characters that aren't conventionally beautiful, nor sexy, but after getting to know them more and more, you fall for them, and gradually they become increasingly beautiful and sexy in the eyes of the beholder. In other words, this game succeeds in simulating what love and sexual attraction can be like in real life.

Other than a few grammatical errors here and there, overall it's a great game. The story line is beautiful, albeit heartbreaking at times. I love the models, and soo happy that y'all didn't spring for the typical BBB (big boobed bimbos) models. The characters really grow on you, from the adorable Denise to the quirky S3 girls. Y'all did a great job with this one, and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a good story drive VN. Hope to see more titles like this in the future.

This is hands down the best game on this genre.
The character development, the animations, dialogs, scenary all of this is on point.
I just hope for the developer to get more resources so this master piece can be updated more often.

Well since i've downloaded this twice for updates and enjoyed it both times, I figured i'd leave a review. While the visuals/artstyle might not be for everyone, it does look/work a lot better as you're reading through it and see how much movement and expressions/positions there are over the course of reading. As for the novel side itself, this one is fairly heavy on the story but always holds your interest by throwing in teasing/progression through both text and visuals, and is far more interesting and immersive than other animated VNs. I'm not gonna post about the actual story/spoilers but once you get into it, it strings you along more and more each chapter and eventually delivers. I'm not sure what they're going to add storywise in the future because chapter 7 really wraps up the path it was going down so far, which only ups the anticipation for potential future content. Easily one of the best on this website.

So I've seen a lot of memes dissing this game. It's been most weird pictures of both daughters.
I wondered how it's so popular so I downloaded it and played.
After few minutes the protagonists grow on you, over time they even start being cute. The chats are great, them not being stupid barbies make their emotions being readable. I lost my heart to both over time.
Im in 6th part right now, kinda sad it ends for now with seven.

Overall a great experience and a clear 5/5 for me!

Review for Ch. 7 v0.7.4

I've tried to get into this game multiple times throughout the years, but for some reason I always end up reaching a point where I end a session and have no real desire to boot up the game again.

Light of My Life is a down to the bone incest game, but it would be frankly wrong to just say it's like any other. Despite my mixed opinions, this is one of those AVNs where you can tell the dev is putting a lot of their effort into. The overview gives an apt description. It's an emotional slow burn about overcoming loss and raising two daughters with troubles of their own. I think the game does do a solid job of making the characters feel like family, playing into that taboo element well.

My problems with this are twofold. One, the game is incredibly mundane at points and VERY repetitive. For the most part everything moves day by day, and day by day you are repeating the same actions over and over with increasing predictability. Now while it does work in a way to add to that family realism, it's simply not interesting after a point. I have no problems with getting small events of eating dinner with everyone or relaxing on the couch with your "wards," but doing it twenty times in a row makes it lose its value to me.

The game heavily relies on you being into the characters and dialogue and less on creating unique situations (for the most part, occasionally you do venture outside the house). And to a degree it should be doing that, since it's a visual novel after all. But this is where my second problem comes into play.

The story really isn't about you, but rather about the daughters (which is fine). However, the MC/father is a prop. He feels like a passenger watching everything play out before him but not at all influencing it. Your choices are mostly minor dialogue lines that don't really do much beyond making the MC optionally be an asshole. He's lacking a weighty presence you'd expect an MC to have, and is not that fun to play.

Beyond that anything else is minor. There are side girls in the form of office ladies but this is a rare case where I avoided them all. Appearances aside, they exist only to cater to specific fetishes. Genuinely think the game would be better without them, but that's preference more than anything.

The game isn't what I'd call bad though. I do like the unique-er spin on the incest with the younger daughter being the one trying to pull everyone "together," and I like their character models as well. The lesbian/bi sister stuff is also pretty hot to me and not something I see that often.

TLDR - I wouldn't even call this game average, but it's just not for me at the end of the day. A bit too repetitive for my liking, and towards the end I found myself skipping dialogue.
