Dev did mention that it was going to be a lot of work to redo the navigation, made sense to ask why.
I think your negativity is causing you to assume the worst. Lewdlab never said in that post that rendering a few extra images for the navigation was going to be a lot of work.
Why fix something that wasn't broken.
Now I really believe you didn't fully read the progress report and just started to assume the worst. The old navigation was
completely broken, that's one of the biggest reasons why he's changing it.

Also, tapping on small squares all next to each other at the top of the screen and tapping on the small interact icons that have a super small hitbox is really bad for Android players.
Like this one, wasn't it better without the distracting arrow and pool sign. Just my humble opinion though.
I respect your opinion, but you aren't considering how distracting the bar with 10 squares at the top of the screen was, and how distracting having 3 interact icons for Ruby, the study, and the pool in the kitchen was. All of those things are gone in the new image/system.
