Hmm. There are a few reasons that we know for certain. At the beginning, this game was going under Unity. That didn't work out, transitioning to Ren'Py took some time. Then there was this 3/4 year long break too, when he was adding animations to DoD instead. Then the issue with the coder, took time to find another. And these are just the type of reasons that may or may not be used as an excuse. Depending on how you wanna see and interpret things.

It sure doesn't help that the pace of storytelling is way off. The entire game is still feels like its just one endessly extending prologue. It is something i for example don't wanna see rolling on for 3 whole years. Which doesn't help the title's case. I mean the fact it takes so long, adding the whole pacing on top of it.

But i don't wanna get into the issues. The question was why this takes so long. Well, because reasons told above and you can add motivation issues on top of that. One could argue this but if you are motivated you do not take year long breaks and you do not struggle advancing the story that you supposedly had all figured out at the very beginning.

Some may as well add the term 'milker' into this mix which may or may not be true. But here we are. 3 years later and game is still almost as empty as it was in the beginning. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

almost nothing new.. and as the other said in the comment above, it makes me tired to see Joyce rubbing against the mc clearly without any standard of morality and nothing happens
