The problem with bad communication and long delays is that almost no matter how good the next update is, it is kind of set up for disappointment. People are going to rate the next update ultra harshly. Unless we see at least three updates in a row with a reasonable amount of time in between (2 months max) people will keep shit talking this game and the creator to the ground. Maybe justified so.

Let's talk about "fair" for a second. What is a "fair" amount of content? The last time an update was released was march of last year. That means we are 13 going on 14 months now without an update. Normal game updates around here are between 2-4 months. Even if we give him the max amount of time to release an update at 4 months, that is still 3 updates worth of content that he needs to put out now. He never paused his patreon to stop taking money because he had other things going on. So the only assumption is that he was working all this time. Should be easy to do. And if he does put out that amount of content I will have nothing to say, although what took so long is a question one might have. However, he will have fulfilled what I count as a "fair" amount of content for the time and money he took. But considering track record I doubt the above will be the case. Most likely we will see Ruby completed and a few smaller scenes(booty calls) done, but no real progress with Joyce or the Aunt or other characters.

So let's get back to what is "fair." At the end of December he posted the "last preview" for version .17
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.
This would imply that the update should be nearly done at this point, as he also said this was the last preview before the update. So what took him another 5 months to complete? More content? Other "unfortunate and unforeseen" circumstances? Laziness? The only other update was on the 2nd of February and even then it still took another 3 months to pump out the update. So we have come back to my initial timeline of 13-14 months of development and so we should expect at a minimum 3 updates worth of content. Even if I go extremely generous and say 6 months for an update that is still 2 updates worth of content, which at this point would be 2 character storylines finished. I think that is "fair" and any less would be a ripoff to anyone who paid this dev over the last year. As I said before maybe he does this, we will have to wait and see.

It surely won't. This developer is double-trouble. As in, he doesn't put much work, and when he does, is not in a productive way: Engine change, Old game remaster, and now a rework of the entire game experience up to this point, instead of going forward. This update won't have much new storyline I fear, but hopefully, really really hopefully, it would actually be better after this one.

But the date that this was announced is yet another red flag. Seems like it was just to not get the "Abandoned" tag here, not that the update was really ready....

If I had time, and access to all necessary info, I would love to compare how much content we've got since Midnight Paradise was first launched, compared to all content that we got during the same time for Being a Dik and City of Broken Dreamers, for instance.

They are again deluding themselves with BABA YAGA. I agree with those who speculate on creating smoke so as not to upload the "abandoned" tag. But I also speculate that he has already finished the game distributed to Patreon TOP1 and did it until he met EVERYONE, now he will make it available for this forum, he is also curious about the repercussions.
This business niche is still quite amateurish, it has serious people/developers committed to the business but some stain the whole orchard.
Curious that his cousin ISCTOR is also finalizing the game and now cumpadre/ look-alike LEWDLAB has done the same, and this is not a final update.
But turn on the red light he just uploaded a BANNER that declares update 0.17 and talks about the second week of May?? It's the second week of May!
I agree with the speculation that the increased anticipation can and will cause "frustration" for the game's fanboys. And they still claim that the expected "sex with Joyce" did not even occur in this update.
Without wasting time to download it, I'll give you a score of 3.2 or a single star, very small and very small. I'll just watch the gameplay cut videos to confirm the obvious. This game has already FLOPED.

set yourself up for disappointing update if it even comes, and just remove this thread from watchlist some time next week, quite clear the dude is doing stuff to not get the abandoned tag here, I just don't think it matters much, it is probably more of a consolation prize to wound up folk around here
no doubt some impact would be from that, but the info about the game is already too spread out, which still funnels people to his patreon

probably a better tag would be update frequency, 1, 2 or 5 updates a year or something like that, but even that info might go past majority of visitors heads who will ask a question that was answered a post or two above theirs

Just a heads up!

If MP latest release gets released this weekend, I already have a planned busy weekend so it will be sometime in the coming week before I get the mod updated for that.

If anybody asks when I will be updating the mod, just let 'em know I am a real motherfucker who will be having the mother of my kids calling me 'Daddy' a lot this weekend (Sunday is Mother's Day here) and point them to this post.

It won't be a classic update. At least a significant part of the mod could no longer function the way it does. So it will probably need more time than usual.

I would probably curb my enthusiasm by taking off a zero from each of those numbers, if I were you
Honestly, I don't mind since I don't even pay for the update. But, I think that those number are real, in a normal update (3 months of work) there are 300-400 renders and 20-30 animations, so, if this "reboot" took 1 year of work, I think that is possible that amount of renders. Anyway, let's see what we got and as always let's low the enthusiasm :KEK:

It's going to depend on how much of the game code he did for the mod to still inject itself but also how much of the when/where he changed too.
