So how does this compare to the original Rance 3 since it was pretty good and 01 just.. wasn't and I know it took a lot of inspiration from 01.
It's different enough. Obvious graphics aside, while the dungeon traversal is similar to Rance 01 where you advance on a grid of cards and loop around until you find what you're looking for or hit the exit, and you don't need to do so for overworld travel now. No chip system too so you're not punished for not having a item or key item because you threw it in a battle or something. The battles feel like it took from 02 and gave it a new flair to work with, being able to bring multiple people in despite only being able to use so many skills, and some getting bonuses by special circumstances down the line to make some worth bringing over others in certain situations. Still pretty easy even as I'm near the end and poked a bit of the temple, but Rance III wasn't exactly hard with Feliss usage in there either.

It's been a good decade since I last played the OG, so I can't recall every single detail, but the story has been good just as I remember. A few changes has happened to link together 01 and 02 with 03 and to the rest of the later entries better or give proper characterizations to some lackluster NPCs like the Three Gem Sisters that are now apostles and don't just fold over in a battle and are never seen again. There's enough new stuff to give veterans something to go "Oh, that's neat." and hey, VA is good too. Rance's Gahahas in the few moments we do have him speak in battle are peak.

Can someone explain Lia's Zero Three Skill - Princess's Tea Party? When I first read the description (reset the party's cooldowns (after battle)) I thought it was OP as fuck. But it doesn't seem to activate at all? Is it just a set chance for it to happen or something?
Really? Because it does proc often for me. Please note that 03 skills will perform better the longer the person is in your party, but I've had her skill proc consecutively for multiple battles in a row before. Maybe RNG? Note, it doesn't affect everyone at once, but it is still very OP.

should i even recruit jericho? that low max level is getting on my nerves. do I even need her? or just for h-scenes?

should i just keep the recruitment form item for later?
No, use it. You get three forms, and the people you get from them, in order: Suckiest, Kinda sucks, kinda okay. You can't get the third person who is a sexy babe for the harem without getting Jericho. Worst case scenario, you can sell Jericho to a brothel later. (You can sell any/all of the three to a brothel.)

for the many times the main story made use of Shizuka's fire arrow/fire blast and angel cutter, I can't even use them ingame lol.

also, this might be one of the few games where aoe attacks are underwhelming.

Ah thanks. I found the wiki saying its a 10-60% chance, seems like when I tried it especially didn't like me ^^

until you get 6star Rick and Menad AoE lol Aten AoE is also pretty nice with low cd.

does lv up feliss payoff? her 2 beginer skill is kinda mid so far
She gets another long 5 turn Cooldown Magic AoE
Her 4th skill at lvl 49 is alright for a 3 turn Cooldown Explicit AoE attack.

You can also switch between her long Cooldown skills after each fight as they recharge even when not set, although it might be tedious to switch every time.

So what does everyone think of the playable units gameplay wise?
Here are my thoughts:

1. Menad 4th skill at 6 stars is 1200% Physical AoE with only 1 turn Cooldown. Might be the best skill in the game?

2. Rick Addison 1st skill at 6 stars is 1200% Explosive AoE with 2 turn Cooldown. Almost like Menad but 1 more cooldown

3. Sel Catchgolf 2nd skill, the only AoE heal skill in the game and only has 2 turn cooldown.

4. Rance 1st skill, just good consistent dmg the entire game with no cooldown. Many units have something like this, but Rance is there for nearly the whole game, has basically no lvl cap and good stats

5. Maris, her 1st skill is same as Rance, but her 03 skill can be a lifesaver against bosses by sometimes skipping the enemy turn. Her 4th skill at 6 stars is 1000% AoE physical, but 3 turn cooldown. so 1st skill might be better for consistent dmg each turn. Also comes late at lvl 50.

6. Baress 3rd skill AoE buff that mitigate magic dmg once for the entire team and only 2 turn cooldown.
Shizuka has a similar skill but with 3 turn Cooldown. If any boss has magic attacks, highly recommended to use this skill.

7. Maria 2nd skill AoE buff that mitigate physical dmg once for the entire team. It has a pretty long 4 turn cooldown,
Aten has a similar skill but with 5 turn cooldown. You can run both and alternate between them.
Her 1st skill is also decent but having 1 turn cooldown means 0 cooldown or AoE often outDpS this skill.
Her 4th skill has no cooldown but comes late at lvl 43 and run of her lower magic stat compared to her str while also not being that strong (520 to 830% 5-6 star vs the norm of 650 to 1000% from 0 cooldown 5-6 star skills)

8.Aten 3rd skill at 6 stars is 830% magic AoE with 2 turn cooldown.Pretty low cooldown for AoE but not as strong as the top dogs Menad and Rick.
Her 4th skill is better suited against bosses that use physical attacks (see above).

9. Shizuka, basically all her skills are good, 03 skill sometimes negates her own skill going into cooldown, she has 2 decent AoE magic attacks, her 1st skill is 1000% magic dmg AoE with 3 turn cooldown, while her 3rd skill White Destruction beam at 6 stars is 1400% magic dmg AoE with 4 turn cooldown. Her 4th skill self buffs making her next attack deal more dmg and ignore resistance. Problem that this cost 2 slots, so I don't use it.
Her 2nd skill is more suited against bosses that do magic dmg, although Barres version is less cooldown.

10. Leila 2nd skill at 6 stars is 830% physical AoE with 2 turn cooldown. Her 1st skill might be better as it's like Rance 1st skill just consistent good dmg with no cooldown, but she doesn't have as good stats as Rance.

11 Kanami, basically filler the entire game, but her 03 has a high chance to prevent enemy ambush, which Super Hannies in the Super Course seem to always do. This is probably the only time where I would recommend using her instead of being a filler.
1st skill does consistent but below average dmg the entire game as she doesn't have high str.
4th skill at 6 stars is 830% Explosive AoE with 3 turn cooldown.

Beyond this point, everything is filler although maybe some have potential?

12 Sioux, pretty good filler with her 1st skill doing consistent dmg with no cooldown to the furthest enemy, but she has a semi low lvl cap of 36 and just nothing outstanding to be worth raising her cap.

13. Feliss, another filler the entire game suffering from her skills having very long cooldown, which is a shame when her stats are high and having a 99 lvl cap.
4th skill is late at lvl 49 and the only decent skill with 830% Explicit AoE attack with 3 turn cooldown.
Decent mob killer, bad in long boss battles.

14. Sill, also filler, her 1st skill is alright dmg every other turn with 1 turn cooldown, but often the units with 0 turn cooldown or with AoE just outDPS her and her heal is single target 2 turn cooldown.
Her 4th skill is high power but 2 turn cooldown, suffering the same problem at 1st skill.

15. Milli Yorks, low cap of 28 that serves as a filler when she is around. 1st skill is just consistent good dmg with no cooldown.

???. Lia Leazas, most standout trait is her 03 skill sometimes Resets the parties cooldown after battle, might not actually be worth using for consistency and basically useless in actual battle or bosses. Has bad stats, low lvl cap and no standout skills that also suffer cooldown problems.

??? Yulang Mirage, her skills suffer from extremely long cooldown and also low lvl cap of 27, if her skill were anything consistently good, it would be worth raising her cap, but alas.
There is the Lia + Yulang combo, but then you might as well run any other good skills with cooldown, not Yulang.

Bottom 5, these just suffer from many problems:

18: Necai, bad stats, low lvl cap of 24, no standout skills besides her 03 increasing drop rates when you farm 30 of that item you need for a sidequest.

19. Mill York, joins too late and semi low cap of 34, no good skills either suffering cooldown or using her wrong stat (Mill has high magic and low str, but has some physical skills that are just the basic 0 cooldown skill many other units have with an actual str stat backing it up).

20. Burning B, bad stats, no noteworthy skills, not even really worth being a filler when you can just run more skills from better units, like Rance 3rd skill would just outDPS whatever this guy is doing.

21. Julia, bad stats, no noteworthy skills, joins too late to be a filler and joins lvl 10 right before endgame.

22. Jericho, who else is the worst playable unit in the game?

Wondering if anyone uses a full team or use a few less to use more skills? A full team has more hp to work with but a smaller team would gain exp faster.

damn patton used to be a little bitch huh
Patton was actually raised into a kind boy, until Sheila was born. Her mother and Stessel use every means possible to push his name down and ensure Sheila will become the Queen (because Patton's mother is not a legit wife). His mental's soon broken down and Nos appeared when Hunty was not around. After that, Patton becomes what he is in Rance 03

I can't tell, since I just started (lighthouse/password/saphire) and only have Sill, Kanami, Feliss and Jericho in my gang. Feliss' cooldown (5) is really bad, but hey, she can clear a whole wave in one strike, so that's still pretty cool. Too bad she doesn't gain any experience if you switch her (skill) out afterwards.
I really like Kanami, and how she got two strikes every other turn... which makes me wonder if those Favor Seeds (STR and DEX in particular) would be wasted on her...

What do you guys use those Favor seeds on? All in on Rance (maybe other than MND/Magic seeds, I guess)? And just how rare are those? Do they drop a single time at multiple points throughout the game, or can you effectively farm them in some way?

I also just got my first chipped star that increases the level cap by 5 (from some random lucky chan chan that popped up while traveling). And again, I'm thinking of Kanami to use it. But she's nowhere near the level cap yet, and by the time I might use it on her, I'll probably have someone else I'd like to use it on... How rare are these anyways?

...gaaaahhh, I hate it to end up hoarding all the good shit and power ups and stuff, until the game is basically over.

I got Feliss kinda on and off my team, it's not a huge deal that she isn't constantly gaining exp when endgame exp makes any exp gained early almost insignificant. 1 fight can jump you from lvl 10 to 29 for example (Julia as a reference).

I think Feliss is pretty alright in the last Hanny wave of a trail, just slotting her in during those trails to quickly get rid of 3 at once and then quickly get rid of them with the rest of your team, especially when you don't have many allies and 2 of the better ones (Shizuka and Sill) can't do dmg to Hannies.

If you wanna use them immediately, then Str seed Rance, otherwise you could save it for Menad or Rick who have strong AoE skills that gets you more bang for your Str seed.

The Dex seed goes to Barres, because his skills rely on it, I don't think Dex does anything else? I don't see attacks missing and I dunno how crits works and Rance auto crits vs Fiends anyway.

For Magic seed I guess any of the mages like Aten, Shizuka or otherwise Sell to heal more? Not sure how much it impact Sell, since she heals more when units have low hp.

You get plenty of chipped stars that Kanami can just use a couple of them. Most of the good units either already have a high lvl cap (like Rick has a cap of 70 that you probably never reach, I beat the optional Hanny king at lvl 50 and the final boss before that at lvl 43) or can only use so many until it becomes unfeasible to reach the caps.

I found 15 after beating the game (I skipped a 16th in the Hanny trail for a Dex seed, since I started to think I never reach the lvl caps on my best units)

But you probably holding on to those chipped stars for now? I doubt your Kanami is even lvl 40, so it's a waste to use them until she hits her lvl cap if you change your mind with new teammates joining.

Aside from her rather low level cap, I think Sioux is a good backline killer, good for battle with a tank enemy. Her dmg multiplier is high and low cooldown even without level 6, a physical buff and you can kill the backline quite fast. She may need to use 1 or 2 item to raise level cap though

Yea, I think Sioux was pretty good before the top dogs join and then there is barely any room left for her.
Her niche of sniping the backline goes away when Rick and Menad have broken AoE attacks that hits the backline anyway.

The team I run endgame is basically the top 8 and then swap out between them when they aren't useful (Barres is not good if enemies don't use magic attacks or fighting grunts, while magic users can't fight Hannies)

The question here is: aren't those units already strong enough? Do they really need those seeds, does it noticeably make them better? Or...

Jericho, who else is the worst playable unit in the game?
...what happens if you feed all that stuff (chipped stars to raise the level cap in particular; but also all the seeds) to Jericho? Would she become good at some point? And what about her skills? Are some of those useful at least at one point in the game, or something?

And if not Jericho, the question still stands: wouldn't units like Kanami profit way more from STR seeds, than units that are already incredibly strong and gain lots of STR with each level up anyways?
