Fair, that's what the variables are. But I honestly think this is one of the few games where it reads perfectly fine without an incest patch (none of that landlady/tenant crap but actually workable dialogue). If Grace and Chloe were meant to be mother and sister respectively to the MC then it's masked really well because I never really get the impression that something is off in the non-incest dialogue. In fact, I think it fits the characters and the tone of the story better if they're not related, so I really don't feel like mother or sister incest is important to the story at all.
Honestly, I thought the incest tag was more from the fact that MC might start fucking his daughter without realizing it yet
I don't think it was by accident that MC and his girlfriend broke up "18 years ago" after all.

I think Emily was always meant to be the obvious "daughter" as the start, but she might still be a red herring. IMO she seems a little old to be MC's 18-yr old daughter but I guess her age hasn't been explicitly stated yet.
Also the dev gave her green eyes which I think is also meant to make you question whether she's actually his daughter, especially with MC reaching the conclusion that his daughter "should have blue eyes". It is actually possible for two blue-eyed parents to have a green-eyed daughter but it's rare. So she could still wind up being his daughter.

It's mostly the really tender/intimate scenes with Grace that make it really seem like mother/son doesn't fit. It might fit in a typical silly incest games that throw realism out the window, but given the tone of character interactions, mother/son incest just feels off while a years-long simmering attraction between close friends seems like it fits better with the MC/Grace (and also the MC/Chloe) relationships.Exactly, Grace is a close family friend of MC's family, who watched him grow up, a complete next door MILF setup, why is it soo hard for people to keep it that way?!

...that just kind of casually happen that make it feel like non-related fits better. I would think that if Grace was MC's mother, those first few intimate moments would be quite a bit more awkward and she'd be more resistant to the touches and flirting. Instead she's very welcoming of the intimacy. So I think "Grieving widow starting to feel attracted to a family friend that just came back into her life" fits her better and feels more authentic.

I'm not disputing that. I'm just saying that I think non-incest fits at least Grace and Chloe better in the tone of this story. And the incest tag could easily just mean MC fucking his daughter before he knows she's his daughter.
Also variable names aren't always everything. It could, for example, be a situation where the dev initially conceptualized the relationships as mother and sister but the concept changed as the character relationships fleshed out. Changing the variables now would only break everyone's saves for something that most players won't ever see in the first place. So I never really take variable names as gospel. Really only the dev knows for sure what his plan is. If the dev comes out and says yay or nay on Grace=Mother/Chloe=sister then I'll believe that. Either way though, I still think the non-incest dialogue fits this particular story better as it's written.
