A well-written game with all sorts of mechanics to flesh out its storyverse, but some of its charm that got me hooked seems gradually fading into obscurity.
Story/Writing- The premise is simple. The hero, who retired over a girl, soon finds out that the offsprings of the demon king he defeated has come to wreck havoc over their region. Having caught off guard, he must now help them conquer the six realms to insure her wife's safety. That's where everything the story will evolve. While it looks too plain, the devs did an excellent job to introduce conflicts that will test out the hero's morality. There are several ways to proceed with story, with each of them having their own repercussions to himself and his wife. Regarding the conquering of the six realms, however, I think its obvious to see that it won't reach at that point given that there is only 1 major city(not sure if it's representative of 1 realm) to conquer despite having the game in development for 5 years. However, that doesn't make the game less immersive. In fact, there's already more than enough content to explore even if its scope is small. For the writing, there's very few grammatical errors, although I did notice that the misuse of the words 'than' and 'then' has been more prevalent in the newer updates. 4 stars
Gameplay- This is where much of my gripe comes. While choices having impacts is nothing new, what got the most of my interest is the simulation mechanics. Accomplishing goals on a time constraint brings the feeling of urgency. It's what consists most of the earlier part of the game. From managing gold to troops, I honestly thought it will be an integral part of the story. However midway through the game, you will soon realize its pointless. Having maxed out troops or shit ton of gold doesn't give any benefit. There were no shops to spend gold and most of your troops are only used for raids, but even then it doesn't give a dent to your total army. Damn I've wanted to try out the driders against the rastedel troops, or at least lead an army of orc(or cubis) to their doorstep. It was quite unfortunate that this feature is irrelevant now, but I am hopeful that they will be revived in the following updates. The rest of the gameplay is good. The exploration on the map is unique and the choices for major decisions are branched out nicely. 3/5
Art/Renders- Hand-drawn art is always good. While at times it may look inconsistent with each other, I think it's to be expected to commission several artists to lighten the load. Honestly, I'd still play it even if its only text. 4/5
Overall 4+3+4÷3 = 3.66 ~ 4 stars
