Other than one character that was relegated as a side character, no history with the MC, so dev had to introduce them all to MC and us the audience which dragged on. With N&T, a bunch of the LIs had history with the MC making relationship building easier. I.e., less porn logic leaps.
Given the premise, the story was a non-stop trauma dump
The sex scenes seemed like the standard animations and were repetitive across LIs
The endings were pretty bad and threw a lot of the narrative progress out the window
I just started playing today, and haven't finished, but so far focusing on two LI's and making this a more straightforward narrative is a good move. I hope they limit it to 5-6 total main LIs or less and don't shift back to the Choose Your Adventure selection style like TID. That style combined with the number of LIs adds a lot more variable tracking which increases coding and story complexity.
I'm not a fan of the relationship setup, so far, but it's still really early -- i.e., the fact that the MC has no real history with either LI other than occasionally talking to them at work makes them the same as strangers. This means the dev has to work a lot harder at relationship build-up and this time they can't hand waive it away with Interim Archon Magic™. But, since there are less LIs, there is more time to do this.
Iirc this is the first time ILS has netori LIs, I don't remember any in N&T (pretty sure any LI husbands or boyfriends were dead) and in TID all of the LIs are uninvolved and if they had partners, they'd be shades. So, the dev has to figure out how to advance the relationships when the LIs partners may be alive and the LIs seem to have a positive relationship with their partners. Also, the MC doesn't seem like the morally ambiguous scumbag type to facilitate 'stealing' the LIs.
I mean, technically Alice's husband/Naomi's dad was only presumed dead, but your netori comment is valid and that will be something to watch. Though I wouldn't call Laura's relationship with her partner very positive from what we find out in this last episode.

Yeah, right after I wrote my comment, I started playing again and the game started dropping hints and I've played to the end of chapter 3. So I know she claims he's been cheating on her. At the least they're suffering from a dead bedroom.. There's generally only a handful of ways I've seen a 'good' mc get an LI in a relationship, first is the LI's partner is a shitty person, second, the partner leaves the picture (e.g., breaks up, death, etc), which makes it no longer netori, which would be fine for this game since it's not the focus. All other scenarios requires a 'bad' or morally ambiguous MC, e.g., he steals her (via coercion, blackmail, etc.) or the LI is 'bad' or morally ambiguous and doesn't care about cheating.
Not sure how Kallie is going to be handled, though.
OK, this is more like it. I loved Now & Then. Hell, I started supporting them on Patreon because of that game. I lasted maybe 4 updates into the next one. I just couldn't get into it. I'll wait a few more updates before resubbing, but it's looking good so far.
I know we are in the dark about the total number of future LI's but I'm guessing that there are at least 6 based on this image the dev published for 2025:
As closely as I can tell - the images of Kallie and Laura include side profiles - but I could be wrong.
Given the way the story is playing out right now:
With repeated commentary about the new 'home' being temporary - a place to stay for a few days, I think we will encounter our next woman or pair of women as part of the next move to a new, temporary home.
Wondering about adding to our group of survivors, coupled with the news at the end of the episode, makes it hard to wait for the next release but, with a wait of < 28 days now, this won't be a long wait.
Using an elevator in a building that wasn't necessarily being maintained properly leading up to the stories events... seems unwise haha. Imagine all 3 of them using it at once and getting stuck? XD no one's coming to help!
I am not sure what you mean by that. The building was recently abandoned due to the fog. Like literally a week before it was a fully functional building. Most elevators won't go bad in that short of a period of time.

I suppose one could connect the fog damaging the electrical parts of the elevator to what's going on with the cars outside. That said, the cars are out in the thick of it, and the elevator is in a building so it would take considerably longer to be affected, if it's the electronics being affected at all (going off the fact the cars won't start being connected to battery trouble).
I can't say I'd take the elevator in this scenario either.
Well, that's what cliffhangers are meant to do. We've had one at the end of each release, and I suspect there will be one for each and every future release until the game is completed.

I have never really associated the fog with causing electrical issues. Cell phones still function (just have no service) as does the flashlight MC finds, etc. I always have assumed the cars' problems were related to their air intakes sucking thick acidic fog into the air filter and carburetor, gumming them up so the engine wasn't getting any oxygen, the plugs got fouled, etc. The machinery for the elevator would be in enclosed housings inside the buildings (same as the people hiding in the buildings who seem mostly unaffected by the fog while inside,) so I see no reason they would be prone to break down after only a week.
I agree - I think that the two women in the image below (Saturday night prepping for a party) look like the two women in the 2025 image I posted earlier (reposted here for comparison), based on what you can see of faces and hair styles.
They look like the two women under the 0 in the '2025' below.
It will be serendipitous if it turns out that one of them has some kind of medical/nursing/veterinarian training to add to the skill mix of our small band of survivors.
I know - it's not like you can order a specific mix of additional survivors to be delivered by Amazon...
I'm hoping for some luck for the sake of the group!

Not sure how Kallie is going to be handled, though.
We currently have very little information about Kallie and her wedding plans so the above could just be innocuous.
I also think that Kallie, an introvert, is still warming up to the idea of sharing personal information/feelings with both Laura and the MC.
Part of the way this story is unfolding is the way the small band of survivors are looking out for each other and learning to depend on each other.
IMO - this is a strength of the dev's writing and story choice.
So far, the MC has been a good guy and, based on the MCs from the first two AVNs - the MC will remain a good guy trying to navigate tough circumstances.
Currently - I see unrealized sexual tension between the MC and Kallie.
I think it will take something major (like discovering that one of the new women who the group will meet later has been intimate with her fiancée since he and Kallie got engaged) to push Kallie into anything physical with the MC.
Whatever happens, I want it to be organic to the story versus following porn logic.

Taking into account her emotional state and reliance on the MC, I don't think it would be 'porn logic' for Kallie to start seeing the MC as more than a friend or doing something she wouldn't have done before the fog appeared. Laura's husband is already a probable cheater and it would be boring if both girls had the same justification for hooking up with the MC.

I remember that scene, but on the flip side Andrew (the fiance) drives her, way out of his way, to work, when her car wouldn't start. So there's info to indicate that their relationship has positivity and I haven't seen anything that actually indicates otherwise, yet. And since Laura's husband is cheating on her (or at least presumed so), it will be lazy if Kallie's partner also falls into the "shitty partner" trope I mentioned for netori LIs. And yeah, based on the the MCs from N&T and TID, I'll be very surprised if this MC doesn't have a strong moral compass. Well, ILS have proven they can write with previous games,so I look forward to them resolving this conundrum.

Seeing the MC as more than a friend is different than acting on it. And the MC would have to be okay with acting on it, knowing that her fiance is still out there. Maybe an 'accidental' kiss, sure? But past that and you have to call into question MC and Kaille's moral compasses. The narrative in N&T was heavy with the moral implications of MC having a relationship with his adoptive daughter (and her friend) and ensuring that it was 'okay' before anything proceeded.

All I can offer is that at the end of my playthrough of the latest release, Kallie has higher trust, friend and desire points than Laura. She is, however, lacking any love points. But with Laura, a love point was only triggered if the MC decided to have sex with her.

Well, like in N&T, this isn't a normal situation. The MC, Laura and Kallie have no way of contacting their families and they're stuck in a building together, with little privacy. MC has already accidently walked in on Kallie getting dressed and she has peeked on him in the shower (so there is a least some curiosity there).
Would it be morally wrong for the MC to have an intimate relationship with Kallie knowing she's engaged? I mean, sure, but so was having sex with Laura. She's a married woman, even if her husband is cheating on her (which is something we don't even know for certain). The MC can still be a decent guy, even if he does some morally questionable things. Same for Kallie and Laura. It's understandable for them to be tempted, considering the circumstances.

But unlike N&T the characters don't see this as an apocalypse level event. Right now they believe it's just some area that is affected, but not the world. And the snippets from the news broadcast at the end of chapter 3 seem to hint at that. But we'll have to see next chapter if there's more details. The only morality changes they've established are survival based ones. E.g., they've brought up Hurricane Katrina as an example for looting, etc.and that's the justification for MC stealing clothes and food. Regarding Laura, it's a bit of a trope, but the dead marriage/partner cheating is a common justification; from a narrative perspective, her marriage is basically over.
Any maybe just my opinion, but repeatedly doing morally questionable things makes someone definitely not a 'decent' person. But again, ILS knows how to write, and we are way too early in the story to draw conclusions, so I'm just going to have to wait and see.
To be honest, I already felt uncomfortable enough with Laura scene knowing she is a married woman (even if she tried to justify that with the possible, but not even confimed, cheating from her husband).
Kallie seems to be on a healthy relationship with a decent enough man, relation which seems also to be in the blossoming stage, so taking advantage of the current crysis situation to be with her seems immoral to the extreme. The only way in which I could eventually and remotely find myself comfortable being intimate with her is if, for some reason, it's confirmed than her partner has died to the plague. Wild hipothetical plot twist here: Andrew (Kallie's fiance), tried to go and rescue her from the office building somehow, only to end up choked and drown into the toxic fog, which killed him and mutated somehow his body into the abomination we fought in the last chapter. Eventually the abomination will show again, we will have to defeat it somehow, and Kallie will recognize something of her ex-partner in the remains (clothes, a medal or memento of sorts, a wallet with ID documents hidden inside the abomination body... whatever). So, after this, and the expected deep trauma on Kallie for some time, MC will have green light to be with her
