Newbie question: How could I change just the head to a look? I mean, I'd like to keep the whole body and replace only the face.
i know two ways.
1. if you don't care about preserving the each and individual morphs, you can merge them with plugin. now you'll have 3 separate morphs, head, body and gen.

2. if preserving each morphs is important, use . the UI is a bit confusing and annoying, but it gets the job done.

Not trivial.

The way I do it is using the character fusioner plugin, but I don't do it often, so it's hard to make a step by step guide.

From what I can recall, you save the look you want the head as an appearance preset, then load the look you want the body in a scene, load the character fusioner plugin, add a minimal amount value of the appearance with the head you want, then the morph you want will show up in the female morph tab. Set the unwanted head morph to zero and the wanted head morph to 1.

In other words, the look will have:
Unwanted Head morph > 1
Wanted Body morph > 1

When you add .01 value from the other look, it will be like this

Unwanted Head morph > 1
Wanted Body morph > 1
Wanted Head morph > .01
Unwanted Body morph > .01

Then you remove the unwanted stuff

Unwanted Head morph > 0
Wanted Body morph > 1
Wanted Head morph > .1
Unwanted Body morph > 0

It doesn't always work. Sometimes the neck will just collapse into the sternum, Idk why. So you can try other plugins, like the mass morph merger.
Thanks, I'm new to VAM, I'll start investigating with the instructions you've provided to see if I can do it.

2.why are there unrelated scenes/looks showing up in the browser after downloading them from the hub? should I delete them? if yes, how?

3.how do i delete a whole scene along its dependencies?

4.how do modify the appearance of characters in a scene and overwrite their appearance permanently?

5.how do i make plug-ins load automatically whenever i open VAM?

I would start here:
and here:

I will only answer the easy part of your questions:
1. Check the guides. Recommended to start in a bare bone VaM environment, so it link the correct dependencies.
2. Most likely because of those dependencies you mention? I highly recommend install JayJayWon Browser plugin. Then you can just hide them, or tag the scenes you use as favorite, and hide the rest.
3. Not sure you can, without some custom var management tool/ plugin?
4. If you change the appearance in the scenes, the only way to keep it permanently to save the edited scene. There are however plugins to inject looks automatically into scenes on load.

5. You can only auto-start session plugins. There should be save option under session plugin preset. Per scene or per character plugins (that are not started by a session plugin) are stored in scene only..

select a character in the scene and select the Apperance preset tab and change the character or select load Look! your custom menu then in the very left top click on the icon with four stripes and select the very bottom tab and save the scene and everything new character will always be in this scene! look. scenes and everything else are removed by a special plugin it is here on the site there is a whole collection of paid plugins or through the browser jay won! You downloaded the scene and with it all the dependencies and they can be displayed in your menu! this is normal!
