I appreciate the point about pre-existing relationships.... but there's a level. To quote the post from the link, " Pretty much every single film, book, comic...whatever...starts with people having pre-existing relationships and pasts that you know nothing about. ". Yes I agree with that, however at the same time for a story to be worth the effort of following, there's an unspoken agreement between the reader/player/watcher and the author where things which are pertinent to the plot will be eased in as opposed to just dumped.

For example, Strider actually being Aragon, son of Arathon in Lord of the Rings is a big reveal that fits in with the plot well. It sets up further story, justifies why the character is even there in the first place and doing what he's doing whilst enriching the character by reinforcing the motive of why he's doing the thing. That's a good story

In comparison, and I'll spoiler this just to be careful the MC of Where it all Began actually comes from a family that runs a drug ring out of a barn, who's in a gang war with some other random gang who's barely referenced beyond the fact they exist, and it seems most of the family is involved in it and none of any of this has ever been mentioned before up to that point, or even hinted at beyond a reference to a family member being in prison... that's weak plot.

Yeah, the point mentioned in the spoiler ruined it for me. It's such an absurd about face. It almost feels like the issue is the complete lack of any set up. The game plays one way then BAM, the barn scenes happen and you're left going "wait what?"
It's utterly incoherent narratively speaking. The whole initial set up scenario for the game was a fairly ordinary guy from a fairly ordinary lower middle/middle class family getting the hell out Dodge due to the "complicated" relationship he had with both his sisters, but returning due to his mother's "accident". That "accident" being the consequences of the criminal activities of a ne'er-do-well uncle was also a good set-up.

From that we went to everyone being either involved in or okay with criminal/gangland or skeevy activity, with absolutely no set up.

I honestly had to double check whether there was multiple writers for Oceanlab's games because compared to Summer's Gone (which also has plot/writing issues), or even the original version of this, the ridiculous tonal shifts and cringy dialogue here seem like the work of an edgy teenager.

There never was any indication as to whether MC's family was rich or poor or middle class. The lower/middle/middle class family thing is strictly your own (and to be fair I suspect many other people's) speculation.

That "accident" being the consequences of the criminal activities of a ne'er-do-well uncle was also a good set-up.
There never was any implication that the accident was caused by the activities of the uncle. If fact Leia suspected it was related to Dylan, not uncle Joe, not to mention that Leia is for all intends and purposes the successor of Joe and the one responsible for expanding it significantly.

Just finished the update. Interesting that the OG Daisy got merged into OG Dana for the new Dana. A lot of the characters have their changes, but that seems the biggest one.

And for those complaining about the drama, I think that's where the OG game was headed too, we just hadn't gotten there yet. It was always gonna go that way.

Yeah, it feels like pages of the script were lost and ultimately no renders were created for them. It's so bizarre. Like I can't even say it's bad, it's just..... not there

except, given what we now know about the whole family, Occam's razor dictates that's exactly why the "accident" happened which makes the earlier talk of it being Dylan related seem a bit bizarre given there's been precisely zero evidence to suggest anything of the sort. There is however a fuckton of evidence the accident was due to what Leia is now doing. And given everyone's been so eager to explain the situation to the MC, why even bullshit him wit the idea it was Dylan at all?

Hello, I wanted to make a query, the first time I played this game referred to Leia and the others as family without blood ties, ie people with whom he had grown up, but no sister or mother or father, but with this third update refers to them as sister, mother, father, etc ... and I wanted to know if Ocean has changed the roles of the characters or is a license that has taken the translator, since I play it translated and not in English.

The translator must have used the patched version. Without the patch they are not related.

I was unable to trigger the NTR bathroom scene with krayt, can anyone have a guide for that ? Thanks in advance.
Use the search (top of the page on the right). It has been described quite a few times by now. ;)

Turn on the NTR at the begining, be sure to on open relation path. Then MC should sexually frustrate Miru. What's that mean, whenever possible finger her, get bj etc. but do not fuck her. Then when she asks some time with krayt guy, say yes.

Here not only is it avoidable, you have to actively seek it.

I can still see people being iffy about how fast Miru asks about MMF threesome, how open she is about doing porn, but that is only after the MC/player proposes an open relationship. Again I think she should have some doubts about these things, but then again I am not looking for the NTR scenes, for me the fascinating stuff its the wrestling with cheating, regret and other emotions being explored. So far I think she is way too open about everything, which means that between the sharing/swinging crowd and the NTR crowd, it would be the NTR crowd that its more likely to feel disappointed with the 'corruption' going too fast.
The game I'm talking about is actually CALLED "Saving Paula," so I think the main aim of the game is to actively save her from other guys.
And even there, they come and whine about the POSSIBLE NTR.
It's in the name! That's the WHOLE POINT of the game, judging by the name, but they still there, bitching about it.
