Personally I say leave'em as is got to have self control as when to use them and create less of a problem for the feller working on the game.

Additional oddity, is anyone else seeing this? It seems the attach file link is gone from my posts, and add image now opens to something to link to a web source instead of uploading...anyone know what that means/what is going on?
I bet I could change one character in one file and do it without breaking anything, at most one line. So the only complication is a more elaborate way of keeping them in with restrictions...either way...it is something of a strong point of discussion here....so you will hear more either way as the work continues.
Edit: So, While looking for something else I stumbled across the code in question...its more than 1 line, its like 3....so 3 characters or 3 lines removed is all it would take to eliminate the cheats. (For those who care...might just be me...)

There has been several discussions about extending the time of the game/how to formally do that, and I do anticipate that will be a big ticket item once the basic completion is done. And your typo makes me giggle...'sad' box...i know you mean sandbox...but I picture a frowning cardboard box, forwning because cheats get turned off...
Well full removal should be easy from a code standpoint.

Yeah I've just noticed that - can't click/drag images over anymore either, & it's not just browser based as it doesn't work on Brave or Edge browsers - but I think it's a server/forum thing.

It says planned to start 5pm UTC, which I believe is same as UK time (GMT), however it's 1pm here now so I guess they started early

Whew...Glad it was not just me. And...yeah....I have not gone to the front page since...what...the first time i stumbled onto this place? I made bookmarks where I wanted to go and never looked back...so thank you for the legwork/research I skipped over.

For cubsitting simulator I just implemented cheats as an antifrustration feature for some folks, with a small reward if you finish the game without cheats to reward people who play 'fair'. It makes it easier to balance the game to be fun - if people consider it too grindy they can always cheat
Although I also like your idea. I would personally use persistant variables if Xaverion decides to go this way (Ren'Py has special variables that persist across games), so that you only need to unlock them once, and then you have them unlocked for all future playthroughs. Sort of a newgame+.

A reaaally small reward though
If you finish a main route (only Dorothy and Lola will have one yet) without cheating your main screen background image changes slightly to include one of the cubs pregnant.

Always glad when Leo gets some love! Because he's a real pain in the butt to code for - especially in generic events where you now have to keep all pronouns dynamic just in case someone picks him. Would've been easier with just 5 chicks instead of 4 + 1 token shota, but meh. His cute butt is more than worth the pain in my butt, if you ask me

Because I'm kinda curious how the preferences are divided between a) leaving cheats alone, b) make them unlockable by reaching certain milestones in a single playthrough, c) make them unlockable in a newgame+ style.
Not that it matters too much, as Xaverion is the final arbiter now and he can just do what he wants to do, but still

I am not surprised...the particular interests you are likely appealing to seem like they would be mostly in line with what BSC is appealing to, just with a non-specific IP for example. Considering you ALSO post relevant stuff about here separate from it, and when you do, it is normally relevant to what is being discussed here anyway...not just you constantly plugging your own stuff, it has not bothered me. I do not know of any "great way" to do it...functionally, if I were going to do a poll (Based on my understanding of the forums and tools available) for a small number of options (Like this is, 2-3) I would just make 3 posts in quick succession, clearly labeled ("This is post 1 of 3 of my poll") with the Core info, ("What are your preferences regarding Cheats for the game") and then each one would have a statement like ("This post is to represent Leaving Cheats alone/No change to how they are now") and the final part would be something like ("Please only react to one of the x-number posts labeled this way, as any reaction is going to count as your vote.") As voting for multiple would cancel each other out in terms of counting, and they lump all reactions in the single line instead or differentiating, so you cannot use different reactions for different votes, and you are not using it to try to get reputation with votes.
I do wish there was an intended way to do it...it would be good not only for the cheats, but to consolidate the sentiment for anything related to BSC in this case. Like the old BSC community apparently was not so hot on the M/M content, but if I had to estimate the current sentiment here, I would say it seems like it is more warmed up to it, even if not specifically asked for or wanted in massively higher amounts. Like, I don't see anyone petitioning for it to be turned into Babysitting Tails...but there has also been no negative discussion of updating the Tails route in the Guests file...(Barring historical discussion of making it less dark, which has been done in the update) which I have been talking about consistently since I kind of fell into doing it...this feels like more of an acceptance of both some BDSM (Even if mild) style content, and M/M/x content. (Even if not everyone's first preference.)

Just as a side note: I don't think there was ever huge pushback community wise against gay content. Only Aval0nx seemed to get pretty frustrated about being asked to include more Tails content, but that has less to do with it being gay but more to do with him quickly getting frustrated about being asked multiple times about anything XD
Also not really surprising that a large group enjoys seeing at least some Tails vs Sonic - apparently only 30-40% or so of furries identify as 100% exclusively straight.
Especially with open ended games like these including nonstraight or fetish content is pretty easily done in an unobtrusive manner - as long as you hint clearly where a scene is going to lead to but give players an 'out' if they're not interested in seeing that kind of stuff, I've never seen anyone complain.
Like, if people don't wanna bang Tails they're unlikely to give him a call anyway.
And as long as the darker parts are hidden behind low morality stat, it's not like anyone will accidentally stumble on it.
That's my view at least.

My personal suggestion is "why not both?". Design each possible cheat to unlock permanently (not just for current playthrough) when you've whatever it is that would make sense. But ALSO include a 'unlock all cheats now' button
