I have been around since Avalon first release & tbh I've always hated the original Tails rape event, & while your version has toned it down a bit I still think that it could be still a little too harsh for a (very young) 'first timer' in a M/M relationship, especially since Tails is meant to be only a couple of years older than Cream
I think most people think of Domination being hardcore/rough sex/punishment but there are other forms (to my knowledge) of a 'Master/slave' relationship.
I admit I did have my own plans for Tails, never actually posted anything though.
Which of the many rabbit holes would you like to go down? One thing I have constantly brought up is intent. And in this case, we have a blending of "Original" intent, by the original creators, and then of that of anyone who added since, whether the same or not, and then our own, both in view of the project as a whole, and personally. Personally, I have no agenda myself. When this all began, I did not expect to be involved with it...but here we are...I am in the new credits. Now, I personally enjoy the thought of a sexualized Tails in this context...irrespective of whether it is sub/dom or not...though for some reason, it "feels 'right' " for him to be submissive.
Now, the somewhere along the line, either in the original creation or after but before my time here, the scene in question was put in the game. there was some intent to it...I do not claim to know what that was, but there was a reason (even if not a "good" one)...and if we as those working on the game want to maintain the spirit/intent of the content, then changing it is technically a "bad/wrong" thing. If, instead we came into it with the intent of taking the base premise and remaking it "in our image" then that is another story altogether.
That said, I agree with you personally in disliking the original event because of the rape aspect. Remaking it, while attempting to maintain its nebulous purpose/intent was what led to my current iteration. I call it CNC, (Bearing in mind my own limited exposure to it or most other aspects of alternative sexual practices including but not limited to BDSM) and thought/felt that I implied sort of a consent-"subtext" while still giving it the NC (Lets call it heavy/aggressive domination) aspect that is likely the intent...partially potentially alluded to by the code using the term dom in relation to triggers for the scene. (Whoever wrote it...did not use the word rape, despite that being clearly what it was content wise.) Thus, the re-write I did is still more "hardcore/rough/punishment," believed to be staying in tune with earlier intent, while still being "better."
And there are absolutely more forms. This is likely just the form most visible/seen, and thus able to be reproduced by someone *cough me cough* who has never been in or seen the depths of other aspects, despite knowing of/believing in their existence. The intent was not to pigeonhole Sub/Dom relationships into that, just using that iteration of it for this part keeping in mind previous intent.
Honestly, especially in the context of the whole project, thinking of Tails in terms of age was nowhere on my mind. The age thing in a project like this is murky at best. It is the aspect that most makes me feel awkward about the whole thing...even moreso surprisingly than all but the rape aspect of the above discussed content...and it seems silly to imply that the age is more relevant in a M/M relationship than any other...I suspect you will have to elaborate on that if you want it to have the impact you probably intended. First time/level of the scene...I can accept that...but *points to next paragraph*
Then, (At the risk of sounding defensive) we also should bear in mind, that Tails is (at this point) a side character. We do not have the time/structure in the game in its current form to build the depth of a relationship, Sub/Dom or otherwise, (I suppose I could awkwardly write block of exposition telling the story of how we reached this point...) that we might with Cream. Somewhere I made the comment that it is not Babysitting Tails, nor have their been calls for that for this project. In a "spin-off" or alternate reality...I would be in total agreement with you that the scene alone is "too much" and more development between the characters would be warranted, but in context of this project...and (kicks the dead horse) assumed intent, the current iteration was what was produced.
Now, additionally...keep in mind...the overall goal, as I understand it of those working on this...is to "finish it" basically in its current form. Fill in the gaps, fix the codes, write in what was started but not finished to some degree. (original intent again-that poor horse) This could lead to the argument that since the Tails scene was effectively finished, that we should have left it alone completely. I disagree with that enough that I wrote something else...I wont claim to be "proud of it" but can "defend" the reasoning of it. If someone out there is a better writer/knows more about the sexuality aspects I do not...feel free to replace it/me.
Now, all THAT said...I will add your suggestion to my running log of new content/potential update content, as if I have my way, (Intent, this time mine) we WILL see more of Tails and there will be more, let's call it "nice" options, and more "naughty" options including but not limited to as far as the CNC level it is currently at. Looking at the code (at least in the upcoming patch) you will be able to see my hidden dev notes/thoughts if you are willing to jump into the code.
In closing, (*Buries the horse*) if my thoughts on intent are wrong, and everyone else is looking at a much more varied remake...let me know...I can go either way, or stop altogether.
