is there anything new, I mean, have they progressed passed the original game or are they still messing around with little side tweeks and stuff? Not hugely interested in the game but one day I might give it a shot so just curious
to put it blunt if last real update was a 0.008

and reading 0.007

Eric just arrived.

In the orginal i remember getting rid of eric and more before game got abandoned...
And 0.008 doesn mention get rid of him or any of the other either since the re-work on this one..

It's pretty impressive that this remake that is still only catching up is releasing slower than the original game did when it was actually making new stuff.

To be clear up front, three months of work for this much content in 0.08 is really disappointing, and this is after a series of updates that have felt light on content considering the time each update took to get out. I agree with you guys on that much.

Having said that, writing is faaaar from the lion's-share of the work, it's not even a significant portion of it. Parsing the script into code takes as much time as the actual writing process itself (if it were wholely original), let alone all the accompanying code to construct the scene and everything else required for updates. It's way more work than I think you guys are giving it credit for, like waaaay more. The rest of the project and work that goes into each update (except compiling the assets) is built from scratch, and that's a lotof hard work, especially in comparison to the un-original parts of this project.

Dark Silver had the benefit of having an entire team by the time they were working on Glamour and was working on Big Brother fulltime in the first year, so comparing the frequency and size of updates to this project doesn't make much sense imo. I'm pretty sure this dev, excluding testing and translation, is a solo act who does this project on top of another IRL job (something to do with a farm based on past comments he's made). Even if there are others working directly on updates, we don't know how many people there are and how much time they contribute. Currently this project only makes enough for the salary of one person in the dev's country of origin (which has a low median salary to begin with), and definitely didn't have $50k up front to fund it, so I'm not sure what the point of that hypothetical is? Maybe I missed it's point?

Long and short, the idea that "all the hard work is done" is only kinda right if you're strictly speaking about the creation of the premise, characters and compilation of the assets. If you're talking in any other sense, like the time, complexity and difficulty of the work required to put out content for a project like this, I'm sorry but that's just flat out wrong and would demonstrates a profound ignorance around how these projects actually function (coming from someone who has worked on multiple projects like this).

But that's were my defense of the dev starts and ends. This update was a joke. Even in comparison to this dev's past work, let alone other comparable projects. Its very light on content. Three months for half a dozen new pose's when peeking with the ladder, another half dozen poses with Alice's incomplete webcam event, and couple extra shots of existing fantasies (which spoils the game imo) along with a new one? Bruh...

I don't think this project is an intentional scam (that's just conspiratorial coping imo), but I do think the dev is incompetent or doesn't have or want to put time into work on this project anymore and is failing to communicate that. At this point I would question why anyone would choose to pay or back it.

I actually don't follow this game's development cycle closely. So I can not comment about this game a lot.

At the time while I was a fan of BB Silver made around $4000. He is from Russia so sure, you can buy a lot more in Russia with $4000 the in the west, but even in Russia, you will not be able to afford a lot more then 4 developers and if I remember correctly, that was about the size of his team.

I am actually a coder, and I have worked with Renpy. There are 2 games on F95 that I converted (Re-wrote) from Unity to Renpy. You will find them if you search for them. That is neither here nor there.

I will concede that BB (and sandbox games in general), are much more code oriented that your normal VNs. But as a coder I can say the following:
You put a lot of work in your "Framework" (UI, help, tips, game mechanics etc). But that is basically mostly done up front, before your first release. After that, it's mostly rendering. There is a reason why rendering is a measure of progress for pretty much all games on here. That is the thing that takes up the most times by far.
That is also the thing that you cannot really do anything about to improve the speed, except buying more powerful hardware.

Coding is much more related to the amount of effort a coder spent coding. A better coder will be quicker. You can work through the night; you can find nifty code to cut down on development time. You can write generic code or non-generic code. All will impact your time spent on coding. All I'm saying is with coding you are much more in control on how long it will take to implement.

So no, I don't think code complexity is the cause for this game taking 5 years. Given all the assets of the original game, I'm pretty sure I will be able to replicate the exact game in Renpy in about one year, maybe less. It is not really something I'm interested in doing. But complexity wise if I were to guess I would say a year is fair. (Of course this excludes rendering, that takes however long it takes.)

I enjoy a lot of this game, but some bits are just annoying/frustrating because they make no sense.

Like how I have spy cams across the house but can never watch them myself...Just peek through windows.

Huh?
