VN - Ren'Py - Completed - Dreams of Desire [v1.0.3 GOG DE] [Lewdlab]

I'm going to give this game a 3 out of five stars. I played it before but never gave it a rating. After playing it again I realized it isn't as good as I remember.
The models are pretty decent. For the most part the story is workable too.

So why only three stars? For one the reliance on sleep sex or molesting people. God sakes once you do this where else can you go? It happens alot too. It's ok when it is reversed but the MC does it to everyone. It's hard to feel sympathy for a character who molests people in their sleep.

The "dreams" aspect of the game is either some scene with a brother and sister or some scene involving his mother, sisters or aunt and usually in some stupid lesbo scene. God sakes when your fantasies are based on same sex people fucking just come out of the closet already. At best it's just simping in lieu of guy based NTR but serves the same purpose. It's pathetic and the dev loves creating scenes where the MC's powers serve as some conduit for lesbo fantasies instead of him being the center.

There are some good scenes with various characters but again because of the sleep sex crap it's hard to put them together. Nothing says I love you like one sided sex.

The ending worked in it's own way. The MC having to save the world through sex with some real feelings was ok. He couldn't just have sex with random people. Love had to be involved. Again why the dev ruined it with making the MC a borderline rapist most of the game is the mystery. I guess it's hard weaving porn into some story that takes second place to the predictable action of someone with limited experience with actual women.

Anyway I think 3 stars is fair. The ending somewhat redeems the game if you don't screw up and get a bad ending.

Story is just really really boring and same goes for the characters and its also very kinetic, so if you dont follow whatever route dev wants you to follow the game ends very fast, i dident really care one bit about the mother but due to the kinetic aspect of the game your force to molest the mother in diffrent ways, its just not avoidable in any way.
I tried to pick the choices showing 0 interrest in her but then game ended after 10 mins, so you dont really have many choices that matters so no real point in giving them to the player....

MC is also the standard perverted 12 year old lusting for everything and everyone, its boring and you have 0 chance of a immersion gameplay when you hate the MC.

Game has forced LIs and sex scenes, including lesbian shit without MC.

Sandbox is boring and serves no point what so ever, other then wasting your time ofc....

As for the girls i found them pretty ugly and its clearly aimed only for people with a big tit fetish and milfs, theres no smols or younger looking girls and theres just no diversity in builds either, so it fails to deliver something for everyone.

Renders are pretty grainy and low quality at times and the animations are outdated but not all that bad, but it surely dident help the game either.

Gotta say the extremly high ratings feels very fishy its nowhere near as good as its rated, its even filled with idiotic gameover choices on top of it all....never seen any game with that shit get rated so highly...ever....

The game is good, with high-quality animations and well-made renders. Story is good enough and scenes are hot, but could be kinkier. However, there are a few minor drawbacks: the transitions are abrupt and often don't make much sense. That said, this isn’t necessarily an issue for this type of game, right? wink wink

The MVP, the trailblazer, the GOAT.

The quality of this game is absolutely mind blowing for a game from 2016. Nothing, absolutely nothing from back then looks as good, is not even close. It even looks better than many games that are much newer. Lewdlab were the best back then and they are still the best now. Just as DoD did back then and still do to some extent, Midnight Paradise, their latest masterpiece, puts most porn VNs out there to shame as well. Oh and unlike most of the shovelware out there, these are actually completed games. Anything made by Lewdlab is guaranteed topnotch quality

Play this and Midnight, but I warn you, everything else will feel like cheap garbage in comparison. Once you go Lewdlab you never go back

Another great game by lewdlab. It's a short story, but it has many scenes. I would liked, maybe more scenes with the friends mother, but it was enough.
I won't say it was an easy game. It was hard to unlock all endings, but it worth it.
Great animations, great scenes

I just finished the game. Overall, I can say I enjoyed it. However, I think the incest parts of the story weren't written very well; it feels like almost everyone throws themselves at you from the very first scene. The struggle against the Order didn't feel very realistic either. An organization that powerful should have easily taken down a simple family, but they just settled for watching from afar.

Also, I'm not sure how feasible it is to reach the perfect ending without a guide. For example, in one scene, the mother wants to give you a reward, and you choose between breasts, butt, feet, and a kiss. According to the guide, if you don't choose the kiss, you can't reach the perfect ending. Seriously? Who would choose the kiss there?

Anyway, I think the story could have been better overall, but it's still one of the better games I've played so far. My rating for this game is 4.5, but I'm rounding it up to 5 stars.

Too much incest for my taste, story has too much ups and downs for me. If anyone who is into incest I think they will enjoy this game a lot. Also I was not very fond of the characters in general nor their designs, I know it is pretty old game. So yeah I rushed through it to finish it fast. Sorry was not for me.

I have just realised that I have never written a review of this game, although I have played it a couple of times.
This is one of the more iconic games on this forum. I remember when it had its own subforum, along with a select few other games.

The creepy background isn't necessarily bad but what drags the game down for me is the excess of thoughts from the MC. Eventually I became tired and started skipping until the very end. Bad pacing if you ask me.

The other big problem is that animations aren't optimized so they play with plenty of stutter. Overall I'd say it's not exactly a great experience despite the attractive mom and other decent looking characters. The sandbox bits could be removed too as they don't improve the game in any way.

I didn't like at all the first ending I got and have no reason to try others.

This game is very mature with a very good story with some dark moments. All women are gorgeous, with forms and all different. The visual novel take all the good elements of a good thriller with the s*x we all wants !

The GOAT when it comes to mind-controlling the family! Great models, standard story just twisty enough to be entertaining, very few wrong answers. I may be biased with how much I enjoyed it, but overall a Five out of Five must play from me.

The game is excellent ! the story is very interesting, with great and very detailed graphics and animations.
The main story is quite straight-forward so basically there is no room for wrong answers.

My thoughts after finishing it yesterday...

[v1.0.3 GOG DE] + Ipatch

Liked:

• Story is definitely one of the positive aspect of this game. Sure, it is not like mindblowing but comparing to other AVNs it is really really good. It has its depth, there were some unexpected plot twists, the way story was told, slowly revealing new events/clues was movie-tier like.
• As a consequence there are multiple endings (6 + alternate) with short epilogue for each, giving player perfect ending of story. What's more, there was a little scene after cinematics, loved that.
• But there is more! There is a DLC where you see full story through your sister's perspective. That was awesome really, so much unanswered questions player had after finishing original story, were answered later in DLC. Dev could just ommit this backstory compeletely or make it much simplier, yet it was really rich in content.
• Renders quality are really good. I kinda liked this style of some characters' bodies not being perfectly smooth and polished, it gave some additional authenticity, at least for me.
• There is A LOOOT of sex scenes and they are all unique. Multiple girls, multiple sex positions, mostly natural and enjoyable dialogues around them (if you forget it is incest). Not all things I liked, I will say little more about it later.
• Male friend was actually a cool dude, not jester-looser like in 99% of cases in AVN. Maybe it's not much but deserves mentioning.

Neutral:

• There was an attempt to make "free roam" but it was meh. You are obligued to do all these things anyway and the order didn't matter so what's the point? Just a waste of time for player and a lot more work for dev. If you want to implement free roam in your game so you allow player to decide what to do, put there some consequences, change the outcome, at least some lines in dialogues.
• After finishing, I went into files and renders to see what did I miss. Not sure it was because of patch/mod but there is a content in game which is not available in normal play (warehouse ending). Maybe some older version of story?
• Story itself has some flaws ofc, MC being little stupid/naive, sometimes things became clear as day yet MC was clueless but yeah...

Didn't like:

• MC's 50cm dick, unnatural proportions of some characters' bodies, enormous boobs etc. I know there are people enjoying it, not my thing tho
• Game is pure incest and I'm fine with that as far as you are not forced to deal with all of them, which was not a case here. There were some minor decisions to make although in general outcome was the same (especially with mom content).
• Incest is always tricky I guess and devs have 2 approaches to deal with it: a) make it kinda normal/natural and avoid talking about that b) make it taboo, adding a lot of doubts, talks, regrets etc. Here dev choose a) which I'm not fan of. Girls could be somehow affected by magic-things yet MC didn't hesitate even once, not to mention what we see in epilogues.
• Back to the sex. I mentioned there is A LOOOT of it and for my taste it was TOO MUCH. I mean, fucking day by day the same girls without even trying became quite boring after a while... Later almost all your interractions were sex related like: talk with sister, jerk on her, go to your room, mam calls you to kitchen, you fuck her, you go to bathroom, sister is showering, she gives you a head etc... Everyone loves chocolate but eating first few pieces from time to time tastes better than being forced to eat all 50 bars in one day.

Overall I rate it 7/10.

The gameplay is intuitive yet challenging, offering a perfect balance that keeps you engaged without feeling frustrated. The storyline is compelling, filled with twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. Character development is strong, with each character feeling unique and essential to the overall narrative.

I rate the game in my top 5.

Story: Interesting. Not extremely in depth, but more than enough to keep you engaged. It allows the scenes to flow, and character interactions to develop and make sense.

Characters: The mother, sisters, aunt, and past make sense. The extra characters are just extra bodies. Detailed corruption and character development for each LI. I enjoy them, and the main LIs' renders are fantastic.

Scenes: Top tier. I replay them every now and then. Variety of kinks.

Gameplay: Just enough to be interesting. Choices, minor sandbox interaction. The mod isn't necessary, though I recommend it on a second playthrough to get all the scenes and explore other paths.

Overall impression: I recommend. I played this game several years ago, one of my first h-games. The renders have been updated, for the better, and story expanded.

This is a classic of sorts. For many it was one of their first RenPy visual novels. But if we're being honest here, it is not particularly good. 'Dreams of Desire' are long, wordy, and kind of nonsensical.

In 2024 the only thing that allows this game to stand out among similar VNs are horror elements, which aren't so prominent in other 'you are young man living with your not-mother and not-sisters in a bland and underdeveloped 3D-house made of the assets you've seen in ten other games' titles. But even here this is not the main focus of the game.

Pay your respects, but pass this game.

It's a horror game in a way, I played it a little but I didn't enjoy the experience. a little disturbing.

graphics are good, gameplay is good, but very easy in certain ways, I really didn't like the horror part of the game, it's a bit disturbing. There are better games to be played.

The game is... Okay. I thought the plot seemed pretty interesting, but the MC acts like he's 14 if that which is really off-putting. While the renders are pretty high quality, they could definitely use more work in lots of the animated scenes. They don't feel very fluid, and when losing his virginity the MC's dick literally clips through the girl's stomach which is pretty rough. The looping point of some animations could also be done a lot better.

The sex scenes might be nicer if the writing felt more mature, but it really just has me skipping over the text for it most of the time since it just sounds like horny teenagers talking. If you don't care about the writing much then this won't be a very big negative, but I play AVNs for the writing before the animations and scenes. Usually they'll be funny or well written, but this one largely misses the mark on both of those points. Every time I want to like the plotline, the MC's immaturity detracts from it. It's pretty frustrating that a bunch of the driving points for the plot are purely thanks to the MC's immaturity as opposed to more clever writing.

I'm not taking any points away from the game for it despite not being a fan myself, but there's a lot of anal focused scenes and lots of foot-related stuff as well. You can just choose the other option to avoid some of the feet stuff/anal, but plenty of anal (and a few feet) related things are forced as well. Some of the alternatives are breast related, but my God are the tongue scenes awful. While the animations are smooth, the choices for how they do them are definitely pretty confusing sometimes as well. They have nice quality models, then the rigging just flops. Another smaller thing to note is that this game, like MANY others, loves to flash the screen white on climax sometimes which is pretty annoying. I'm not really taking points off for it, but it definitely came to mind. I really wish they included an option to disable it, but at least it doesn't do it every time.

There aren't too many, but there are still typos, grammatical mistakes, and repeated words like "Your brother will go with you shopping with you instead of me" throughout, so just be aware if you're like me and that kind of thing bugs you. Luckily I'm used to it with these, but the mistakes become more plentiful further on in the story as well.

All in all, I feel like the story has a lot of wasted potential. There were some cool things, but the end felt pretty weak and I just was left feeling disappointed. I'm tempted to leave two stars, but honestly the character models are all really good and I feel it's a bit unfair since that's usually the main purpose of an AVN. While the scenes feel like they're high quality animations, the actual rigging of them is the main thing that leaves much to be desired (although there are some stand-out scenes in comparison to the rest).

How Long To Beat: 10+ Hours

An excellent supernatural corruption game that sticks the landing, despite often extraneous dialogue.

The character models are excellent. The animations are excellent. The story remains intriguing throughout. The pacing between story and sex scenes are solid. The various routes work and feel organic.

MC is granted a corrupting power by a creepy figure in his dreams. He has visions of an evil force and there is an imminent threat that involves a cryptic occult conspiracy. There is a consistent tone of unease and paranoia which escalates as the MC looks for answers. One of his love interests is directly involved with these evil forces. Who is it, and why? Should the MC be using his powers for corruption, or is that just enabling the unseen forces?

The actual plot is good, especially in the context of an Adult Ren'Py game, which tends to get lost in rote stories. The actual corruption in the game is fulfilling and fun; it doesn't feel destructive or disturbing like other games with the corruption tag. The MC, at least in my playthrough, never felt reprehensible, just confused and possibly too foolish with the powers granted to him.

The unease and dread with the dream figures is maintained throughout. So the game manages a spooky tone of horror without ever devolving into outright disturbing content. That said, the game does allow you an Evil route, which does bring with it darker consequences. I went through a few endings, and even the dark ending never felt extraneously deranged.

There's enough replayability in the choices. There are too many H games to play, so I am not in the demographic that goes through a game multiple times, but I do feel it's justified for those that enjoy that. I know that I can always come back to this and enjoy it with greater context, since all of the secrets have been revealed.

I will say that the narrative and the dialogue is often verbose. A common sin among VN authors. Less is more. Brevity is the key to wit. Get to the point.

This is among the best Ren'Py VN's on the website. I highly recommend it.

I understand it was made a while ago, but I still wish it had more animations, it would made the game even better and more "alive"
