I am not talking about altruism.Have to agree, especially when it's said by Norman, like that!
Not that I would've disagreed anyway. But Oldman is far more threatening.
Made me wanna go & watch Leon & The Firm ('89 version) again.
Simply put, "Absolute power corrupts absolutely".
Even those who go into politics with the best, most altruistic, intentions, find themselves operating in a world that does not share them. So they have to fit in, or be separated anyway.
Altruistic intentions be damned.
I am talking about a very different beast called "Service". Politics is a dirty business. No one comes out of it clean, if they look clean, either they didn't do anything at all, or, are hiding VERY bad things.
Remember "Yes Minister"? In between the gags, the truth was spoken quite plainly. Politics is necessary, because the world is what it is. Therefore we need politicians. The problem is how we are choosing them. Popularity contests clearly don't work, as it is being proven all over the world.
Peace
