Having finished the game, I have to say: what the fuck was that ending??!!
I don't mean the game's regular ending, I mean the ending you get after climbing the dungeon that opens after you complete the story. So, yeah, spoilers, I guess.
During the game, we are given several hints as to this one happening some time before even the first game in the series (Last Embryo). Freeing Manargram during the second chapter, however, would put this one into a solid "non-cannon" state, since that should be done in the second game of the series (Ark of Artemis). But when we reach this extra-ending, we discover that, actually, this game does takes place after the prior one... Kinda.
Something happened after the end of the second game, and that prompted someone to go back in time, to before everything started, with a plan to stop the Big Bad Evil Guy from the last two games (and this one too) before he can even start his latest plan, all because there is actually someone even above him that will take over or destroy the world if the bad guy either won or put up such a battle that no one has the strengh to stop this new evil dude to take over after.
Fine. That does explain a lot. It's quite clever even... at first.
Because once you think a bit more: WHAT ABOUT SILL??!! If, in the timeline, the events of this game take place before the time of the first one, and the characters here defeated the cause of the events of the first game, what happens to our original protagonist?! She wouldn't have her demonic powers, so... would she even be relevant, still? I guess, she has to be if the last game of this series will ever be a "Last Embryo 2", but still...
Yeah, not a fan. Overall this one was much better than Ark of Artemis in gameplay, thank God, but the very last twist kinda cheapens out everything we see in the prior games. What a way to go...
