Ah. This convinces me that the patch is the true story. If the non-patched version were to make sense, they wouldn't call each other roomies. If the backstory is that they grew up together since they were like 3 years old, under the same adoptive parent, they would certainly consider each other siblings and call each other bro/sis. It doesn't make sense that they would refer to each other as "roommates." And it also doesn't really make sense for other people to be like, "Oh, roommates, that totally clears up the misunderstanding that you guys are a couple." Because roommates totally can't be a couple, right? They are definitely raised as siblings, but it's never really been said out loud.
Nami and the MC are visiting Vic at hospital:
Nami: "*Sweet* Hi."
Vic: "Who are you?"
Nami: "I'm Nami."
Nami: "Nika's roomie."
Vic: "It's so n-nice that you two came."
First day at college:
Jeff: "You're a cute couple."
Nami: "Wow, wow, wow! We're roomies!"
Jeff: "Oh!"
Maja calling the MC:
MC: "GOD! FOR FUCK'S SAKE, NAMI!"
Maja: "Uhh- is this a bad ti-time?"
MC: "Oh! Maja? Is that you? Sorry, I thought you were my mentally crippled roommate."
And so on...
So yea. The non-patched version is certainly a patreon work around that isn't quite thoroughly written to make sense of their relationship dynamic.
Like even with the patched version, they could potentially be half siblings, or even non-blood related (although that would certainly ruffle the feathers of incest purists lol). It's the essence of the relationship that really matters as far as selling their bond goes, more so than actual blood relations.
