There also seems to be a misconception of how much work still needs to be done. WWG is dealing with IRL issues that are preventing work on the game. Whatever those issues are need to be resolved before he can continue. He doesn't know how long it's going to take to reach the point that he'll be able to resume proper work on the game.

The last completion percent number he gave was 93% complete back in January. How much of that 7% remains is unknown but none of it can get done if outside factors are preventing progress. It's not he needs 2+ months to work on completing the update, it's he needs that time to get his other shit in order and finish the update.
To be fair, we don't know that either. I share your interpretation 100%, but it's still just an interpretation of the scarce details WWG gave us about the situation.
The problem is that people tend to consider their own opinion to be facts. :/

The pledgers don't matter? How can you say that? The pledgers are ALL that matter. Keep them happy and they stay pledge and for the most part, yes, the most part, they have been. We aren't going to judge his 5 years of development over this 2 month delay.

This game doesn't run off the pirates. Having pledgers are what keep the game in development. This game is WWGs main income. To say that pledgers don't matter, like this game would exist without them?

Just imagine if he made the game for pirates first and his pledgers second. I don't care what side of the argument you're on. You absolutely know the pledgers (aka the money) should be WWGs goals.
“We aren't going to judge his 5 years of development over this 2 month delay.”

We aren’t either, we’re judging him off of the many times he’s done this in the past and now again. The difference is that you pretend it’s never happened before and his 5 years of development have been perfect in your eyes. He’s your favorite dev of all time, you tried to model your own game after him, you ignore/excuse any issues he’s had thats why you view everything so differently and are incapable of criticism towards him.

“The game doesn’t run off pirates”

The game wouldn’t exist without pirates. Where do you think his pledgers came from? You think they’re all just scouring Patreon for completely unknown games? No, they try it first on sites like this then decide to pledge. Without piracy sites WWG and PV don’t exist. Not to mention some of us are former pledges who’ve put money into supporting him already.

I counted four times in total (including now). One of which was the Patreon purge (Chapter Ten) and one was a few months before the release date (Chapter Seven). So, when it comes to the same circumstances as this one, where he said he needed an extra month just before he was supposed to release, it's once (Chapter Twelve). One time he has done this. On one time you're judging this.

If I'm wrong and you can show me the many times he's done this, feel free to let me know.

“If we ignore the fact he misled/lied to everyone, and only look at delays for over a month; it’s only been once”

Not exactly the “gotcha” moment you think it is. He’s delayed over a quarter of his updates over 5 years, would likely be more if he didn’t stop giving timelines for a period. Out of the updates he’s actually given a timeframe for he’s missed just under 50% of those. It’s also the second time he’s announced right before release it is now delayed, at best that’s purposefully misleading at worst it’s blatant lying.

Again you can think whatever you want about him personally, my opinion doesn’t need to match yours. However absolving him of any and all criticism is being blindly delusional. Telling others their not allowed to be upset and trying to get the moderator to remove people or stop the conversation is soft period.

Of those, the delays have all been under 1 week except for 1. It's not the bad developer YOU are making him out to be either. You also need to stop putting words in other peoples mouths. He said there's only been 1 case like this one and that's true. you're treating his delays like they were all like this latest one, over a month delay.

You love twisting people's words to suit your own arguments... Really dishonest thing to do.

It's more of a "gotcha" than your unsupported statements. At least he's gone to the effort of exploring each previous delay whilst you haven't done anything more than bitch and whine.

would likely be more if he didn’t stop giving timelines for a period.
Heavily biased and unsubstantiated speculation.

It’s also the second time he’s announced right before release it is now delayed, at best that’s purposefully misleading at worst it’s blatant lying.
No, at best it's unforseen circumstances.
You automatically assume the worst because you love to hate him.

Again you can think whatever you want about him personally, my opinion doesn’t need to match yours. However absolving him of any and all criticism is being blindly delusional.
Of valid criticism, sure.
There's plenty of that already on various aspects of the game, even down to subjective things like the game's humour.

Nobody is absolving WWG of criticism for anything. Believing that anyone is doing that, is actual delusion.

Telling others their not allowed to be upset and trying to get the moderator to remove people or stop the conversation is soft period.
Who has told anyone that they're not allowed to be upset?
Go and find every instance of the past week of anyone who has told other people in this thread that they're not allowed to be upset and show them to us all...

Not a single person in this thread is not upset or disappointed at the very least by the delay.
The difference is that not everyone is behaving like a tantrum-throwing child about it.

It is, actually.
the many times he’s done this in the past
See? Not "the many times" you said. Gotcha.
Out of the updates he’s actually given a timeframe for he’s missed just under 50% of those.
Yeah, and he said he doesn't want to give a hard date, because he'd give his pinky finger for an extra date. So, all timeframes are an estimate. That means the updates are released around that period, not exactly that period (which is given long in advance). This isn't his nine-to-five. This isn't his only job, not his sole focus. This is done in his spare time and guess what, shit happens. Sometimes stuff happens that means you have less spare time.
It’s also the second time he’s announced right before release it is now delayed, at best that’s purposefully misleading at worst it’s blatant lying.
It's not purposefully misleading. Like I said, shit happens. If I'm supposed to be at work at nine, but I get into an accident on the way, did I mislead my boss by saying I'd be on time before I left? At best, it's bad luck he had to announce this, because it was never his intention.
However absolving him of any and all criticism is being blindly delusional.
True. But there's a difference between valid criticism and outright lies to fit your narrative. If I want to win an argument, I make sure my points are valid and proven, not vague and subjected to (wrong) interpretation.

Does it suck? Yes, it does. Should he have made it clearer that there were outside factors influencing his time to work on the game? Yes. Did he fuck up by not disclosing this? Yes. Did he lie? Oh, that's just delusional.
