I'm sorry but unless the coder he hired is only working about once a week, and less than 8 hours at that, I just don't think this could possibly be true. I don't really care how messed up the code is - how could it take 4+ years to resolve it?The Coding Problem was Real, what Dark Cookie should have done for the Tech Update is hiring two to three Coders that work together and keep one of them when the Tech Update is done.
What Cookie did instead: fired the Coder who fucked up and just hired one coder for this Project that now needs to bring everything back alone. That was stupid.
I imagine we're all adults here - imagine you start a job and your predecessor majorly fucked things up before you. Do you think it would take you 4+ years just to resolve that? I don't think so, and I work in HR technology lol. Admittedly it's different from game coding but I can't imagine it's THAT different that it could take years longer than my hardest projects.
