RPGM - Defenestration [v0.5f hotfix] [Fresh Mulan]

EDIT: 11/19/2022 - Bumping to 5 stars. The game's story is still rough around the edges. The main story drags on too much in the prison. This game has some serious potential to be the most unique and interesting , and erotic porn game. The main story pacing needs some work, it's still a bit confusing, but given how the game has progressed in the past 6 months, it gets 5 stars.

EDIT: the diner music is really annoying, but in other parts of the game the music is very good. This game has potential to be 5 stars. The dev is extremely creative.

EDIT: Wow, I had a feeling this game might have something good. I kept playing and playing. The pacing problem is still there. Sometimes it will go from complete boring, but rush straight into a hardcore scene. The entire tease and buildup needs to be smoothed out. I appreciate the roller coaster of surprises, but maybe later on. Like the scene where she gets fucked by the hobo. There should be a slow buildup of the hobo hitting on her, then tension slowly building, then finally she lets him fuck him. Same with Katya, there needs to be more buildup before the scene where they make out on the couch.

Still I'm bumping up from 2 to 3 stars. I'm gonna keep playing. This game world is pretty interesting. It's intriguing.

The writing for the gym is very clever and creative. The scene where she works out and shows off her pussy, super hot. Gonna keep playing. Other than the pacing problem. I'll probably bump this to four stars. Once the pacing, buildup and slow tease are all ironed out, this is an easy 5 star game in the long term.

Writing 2/5: Great ideas, can be funny at times, but drags on and on and on and on, to the point where you fall asleep, which kills the erotic mood. A lot of the dialogue would be better if he stayed on point. He's a creative writer. He obviously just writes and writes, which is good actually, but you're supposed to go over what you write and eliminate the parts that drag on. 3-4 concise sentences are better than 20 sentences of mindless drivel.

Erotic Pacing 0/5: After an hour I barely saw any sexual content. This not a porn game I don't think. I think it's more of an actual game with focus on the story, but the sexual content is the LAST priority. After an hour, I barely saw any sexual content. A good porn game exposes the player to erotic content from the beginning all the way tot he end of the game. This is not that kind of game.

I find this game to be very interesting, even though I have only been playing it a few hours. The MC is very attractive as she is, and I am not giving her larger breasts, as that is not my fetish. Unfortunately I will miss out on some scenes because of this, so maybe I will play it again later with a Bimbo option. The only criticisms I have is that there should be more full screen renders in the style of the scene with her in the park with the ugly fisherman. I didnt like the MC's facial when she is aroused, (crossed eyes with her tongue sticking out) as I thought it more suited to a comedy. Then as I played the game more, I realized that this game is a dark comedy. There are a lot of Russian style humor which some may not fully understand. This game is very different and is certainly worth playing, because its different, and the creator has done a lot of work, with more to come.

Defenestration is certainly... different. From both h-games in general and RPGM ones in particular. The setting, the fetishes, even the writing and the character customization are all unique in their own ways - or at least rarely represented. For this alone, even in its current, very unfinished state, Defenestration deserves some praise, in my opinion.

Corruption is a pretty popular theme, but here it's taken to an extreme, with everyone wanting to turn our protagonist into a cock-hungry cumdumpster, with the writing in general, even when you least expect it, and the setting both tying into it perfectly. Fortunately for you, you decide how far that goes and in what way.

But speaking of writing... it's really quite verbose. Not VN-tier, but you will have to put up with some seriously long-winded rambling rants that reach the cohesion level of very specific kinds of shitposts on anonymous image boards. That's the best way I can describe it. The saving grace here is that the dialogues do tend to be at least amusing. And, as mentioned above, most of it does have a point, as it ties into the story's themes. Though it's still far too wordy for its own good, for real.

Kira's customization is one of the game's biggest features - and causes for concern. There's a LOT you can change about Kira - both visually and in her head - and most of it is reflected in the art and some of the dialogue. And that's great. Also a great deal of extra work for every new scene. I'm certainly not against options, but if this keeps up, with more and more stuff added, I have no idea how is this thing ever going to be finished.
Scope creep can be a very real issue, doubly so for lone devs, and this is my biggest concern in regards to Defenestration. If it's ever finished and the lewd, the writing (just with less rants pls), the art and player agency all hold up as they do now, I'll sing praises to Mulan personally nonstop. Until then, my penis will worriedly pray for his success. Or at least his sanity, if some of the dialogue is anything to go by.

I want love this game but it falls short to deliver enough sex scenes from an adult game that was in development for years and although i love the idea that the quests seem to interact with each other as shown through the dialogues, it would have been better if they are independent instead to move the story forward.

Story and writing- the story is written in a unique style not found in most games which is nice and fresh. My only problem is it sometimes become overly too complicated to understand due to the amount of dialogues you have to go through. 5/5

Gameplay- Lots of choices to make that impacts the character development. There a good amount of quests to do and some more opens along the way, but sadly the most intriguing and exciting one are not yet developed. 2/5

Renders/Art- plenty of outfits and body modifications including tattoos and piercings to choose from. Probably the most heavy and the best the game has to offer 5/5

Sex scenes- almost none. This is the most disappointing aspect of the game. even if you chose to turn the mc into a full on slut you will rarely encounter sex scenes. It makes me wonder what was the point of increasing a stat that should open sex scenes when you cant find npcs to do it with 1/5

The first time I played this game was three years ago. I just finished with the current version.
It fells and looks as literally no progress has been made. Mulan added a new quest in which we have to get the Pole Girl from the prison...Except nothing happened yet. Only one brainwash scene and that's it. After three years...
Instead her patreon page is loaded with promises. Graphics of all kind. I am really curious why the hell aren't they in the game? Just make an update.
If everything that we see was developed in just first three years, yet nothing has been added thereafter...Just like in the game my brain just draws blanks. Three years of hard work followed by three years of limbo. Mindboggling.
The only new graphics are stills of characters. They really look high quality, but they don't really progress the storyline do they?

The new shower scene is only, well...smoke and mirrors...what a surprise...

Just finished the game and my god it's a developer's nightmare...
Way too many open plot lines...Like everything is open...
Way too many locked content/teasers.
Just as the post above mentioned the dev put too much emphasis on character modification...that serves no purpose whatsoever...Took me an hour or two to figure out how to get Breasts #5 during the New You quest.
Way too much dialog to read...Some of it is mumbo jumbo...and some repeated drivel about whoring out.
What was the point of doing those small mini quests of trying to win over the votes. Could have added more content for Shroedinger's patient.

The dev has a serious problem of not following through the projects...

In love with the humor, style, concepts and art. Makes any bugs more than tolerable. The only real difficulty I have gad is with the hints. Some of them didn't offer much and I couldn't go to the movie set because of scene trigger blocking the path.

Best game hands down. One of its kind .

[Original review]

The game is kind of at odds with itself in some areas. The most prominent probably being -

1. Kira's initial sessions can turn her into a cock hungry slut and/or a mindless bimbo who wants nothing more than to jump on the first dick she sees (her words, barely paraphrased), and her later trainings at the hospital further reinforce this. This isn't wishy-washy or a "maybe", this is literal full on turbo slut tier bimbofication and comes with a very strong implication that this is, in fact, how Kira will act from that point forward.

Unfortunately, that doesn't really happen. In the actual game world, Kira mostly refuses to do anything with anyone. If you talk to random NPCs on the streets, they'll hit on Kira and make sexually suggestive comments, and uh... Kira calls them creeps, tells them to fuck off/get lost, tries her hardest to escape from almost any sexual encounter, and is just generally conflicted about sex. It gets really awkward a bit later when Kira is walking around with her tits out and pussy exposed, lewd writing all over her body, and is still calling people creeps and telling them to get lost.

Outside of (a very few) scripted scenes, Kira acts like the opposite of what she was conditioned to be. It kinda throws off the feel of the game for me.

2. Dialog isn't consistent. If you turned your Kira into a dumb bimbo, there's quite a lot of dialog which is still presented as if Kira had chosen to retain her intelligence. This happens with random NPC conversations as well as during major quest dialog. Really fucks with continuity.

3. Weird spelling and grammar inconsistencies between scenes and normal conversations. The 2nd/3rd person text during H-scenes is very clean, smooth, and well written. The conversation text, on the other hand, tends to be full of typos and grammatical errors. It's almost like they were written by two completely different people (maybe they were, I dunno). Either way, it's just kinda jarring.

4. The game teases a ton. The text is always incredibly suggestive and constantly implies that a situation is going to lead into something much, much bigger... but for the most part, it never does. There might be some minor escalation in some scenes but it never really reaches the heights you think it will. Good examples of this are the park night scenes, the subway scenes, and the entire gym questline. All great stuff, but ultimately letdowns in terms of what the text implies versus what actually happens.

When you combine that with the fact that Kira has been completely bimbofied and slutified from head to toe, you're just kinda left there thinking... "why is she not taking these situations further?"

It doesn't make sense.

All that being said, I'm still rating this a 4/5 because -

- The themes and kinks are of interest to me.
- The bimbo/slut hypno is great.
- Good amount of content, and varied enough.
- The art is great.
- I love the layering w/ the various body shapes, piercings, tattoos, body writing, hairstyles, and outfits. It's all very well done.
- Music is great.
- The H-scenes, even though they're still few, are fuckin hot.
- Kira is fuckin hot. I wasn't a big fan of the new art at first, but it has grown on me over time and now I don't think I'd ever want to go back to the old style.

Game has a ton of potential I think. If they can ultimately chill on the teasing and focus on more hardcore content, allowing Kira to actually be the person you thought you turned her into, I'd probably bump it to a 5/5.

The art style, the story, the character customization, the cold war history references, this games knocks everything out of the park.

Hip size, breast size, clothing and hair cut options on top of multiple endings and skippable fetishes, this game is a must.

Brief intro
So, given the latest series of unreleased super hyped updates, the excessive blabbering and erection struggle of various commenters every time this unique game approaches(or not) a release, i think its better to separate our opinions and reviewing ability, to effectively describe the game as it is so far to the new player, as ones who have most likely nutted a couple times on it, so let's start with it.
The Juice.
I personally found out about this game, in august 2020, while on my summer vacation, having enjoyed the thrill of adult games for a while now, i decided to click on this one, hoping i might come across an interesting, non grinding streak of intriguing content, and boy, was i lucky.
The game cover at the time and the pictures given below did not really prepare me for what i would witness inside the actual game.
The artwork? unique, detailed to the brim, something seemingly impossible for a sex game, given that the majority of these games have artwork commissioned and paid for and the real authors pretty much do the writing and/or coding only, or possibly not even that, and never, trust me , never to that extent of the detail. These dudes mostly care about fulfilling your daily fap needs, quickly and possibly without deepening the plot and overall quality of the games, but this one, not the same case it seems..
The Flavor
The scenario planning and laying out is also made carefully, in the context of not fully evading an intriguing seriousness while applying a nice sense of humor to it, which overtakes all else as you move towards the more corrupt side of the game, which again is a choice and pretty fluid all the way. Even the process of body modification guides interesting dialogues and unfolds several intriguing events, which makes a nipple piercing or a tattoo right above the ass crack really sexier than most real life scenarios would. Everyone loves a sweet lady who chooses to decorate her body this way, adding to the symphony of super sexy curves on a pale Russian chick, and trust me, these bitches are, as one would say 'world class'.
The Struggle
I'm not going to criticize every single update and addition and what it did or how it could possibly influence the game in the future.
It is obvious to a rational person, admirer of this kind of art, that the particular author, has gone through a burnout period during the past year which led them to slow down and break their own promises to his fans and supporters, which is only human and we shouldn't be childish and demanding on such fan service, at the end of the day this is fap material. What kind of sad, immature and depressed individual would constantly complain about it as if asking their daddy for a new toy?
Future
I believe the author will move on to new projects once this one has been finalized and adapt and move on as time goes, along with his dedicated patreon base, where i will soon be included.
The Synopsis
I will finish this review saying that, in my opinion this is the BEST adult themed game out there, and we should be understanding and show a mature side when it comes to asking for a release, because in the end, this is a site for adults. салют товарищ !

The writing is absolutely horrible. It's annoying and way too much, even for simple tasks. The maps are confusing. The start is also horrible confusing, you get quests that you can't even do, till you done other, instead giving you the quests, once you can actually do them.

The art itself is good, but not for every taste.

The artwork is quite nice, the story is alright, for a game that's been in development I expected more content, so many quests and areas that are a WIP that just crash the game with an error, or just not able to enter at all even though there's an indicator that you can interact with it. The world is big but that's not a good thing, don't see the point making these RPGM games huge when it's just empty and you have to find your way, just keep it compact this isn't some impressive open world game that you need to go to 3 flights of a huge building to interact with 2 npc.
So much teasing but so little sex, the pay off isn't rewarding at all.
