Why:
1) Can't we save whenever we feel like, as in Dreams of Desire?
2) Why is there no sound at all, in spite of the MC even mentioning listening to music
3) Are the first choices we have been given make it seem like is just a slightly different flavor of text
4) Do Save and Load do not include a screenshot of where we saved
5) Does the option screen not work
6) Can't we skip text that has been seen already
7) Can't we progress text using the keyboard (I checked with at least Control, Enter and the spacebar and they don't work)
Why switch from Renpy? At least some of these features would have been in by default.

Is been...7 months? I am not entitled to anything, since I am not a Patreon but right now, in spite of thinking that Dreams of Desire was quite good, it feels like this one got a bad start.

On the plus side the Renders do look very good.

2 1080´s for destiny or anthem?
0.0

Edit; gotta say i can play destiny 2 with an old r9 270 with 60 fps np o0.
yeah, but i have sli disable at the moment, it's really no need for it, with just one i'm in the 130-160 fps range for destiny 2 depending on what i'm doing on there, haven't looked at anthem, going to check that today and i also built this pc for the future really, where it will be years before i have to upgrade something for future triple a games, but back to the topic, from what i just learn about unity base on what Aesouth just told me, i have a better understanding on how unity works, but still, i enjoyed this game here, i like the story, it has good animations, and switching from room to room and talking to people feels flawless, well for me it did

I don`t want to be another hater of the Unity change, but why did he change the engine I see no reason for it? Everything that is in this game can also be done in renpy games. Has he planned something that can`t be done in renpy? Because right now it seems like he wasted a lot of time learning unity, that could have been spent on working on the game instead.

It is also dissapointing that the game starts with sleep-raping your family. It makes the MC seem like a massive asshole. Honestly right now I am rooting for the twin brother because the MC is so unlikable.

However the renders look awsome as always with lewdlabs.

All the speculation on the development of this game is kind of reducious. He didn't pick a "too difficult engine" to work with, he literally picked unity and bought assets for it that basically saves most of the work. The tools he is using to make this game, is not a tools for a programmer it's a tool for an artist.

The people commenting unity for beeing bad is like asking a novice chef not chopping veggies well, its not the knives fault, its just that the chef needs practice and skill. Now i don't know why he went for 64bit only, as people have mentioned, VN's arent really that demanding to require 64bit only. Maybe there was some other issue.

All of the tools he purchased to make the game, in the unity asset store, allows for some customization, for example the UI design, and stuff around it. Basically how the game "looks"

That's why his game can look professional, but these UI effects are built in functionality of what he bought. I think it looks nice but you can clearly see it needs more polishing, expected for beeing a demo, but perhaps if it really took 6 months to get to this point. Nah. Maybe he took a well needed vacation break from developing the last game.

The only thing I would be worried about is the fact that none of these two assets that he got is really designed for visual novels, not the conversation system or the engine. That will be the interesting part to see for me. When you buy finished assets like this, the biggest difficulty is to make them all play together and work the way you want it to. And if you want to expand on those tools then you sit in a really bad position.

Most people, even experienced programmers wouldnt sit and customize other peoples assets so much, because then you can't update it so easy in the future if the original creator gives out an updated version.

Things like "saving in dialogue" , "replaying scenes", galleries, all this jazz, that is very VN-game specific, does not come out of the box in his engine choice. He is not the first game in unity that cannot save mid dialogue, and there is a reason for this, they all went with assets from the unity store that were meant for other types of games, and then they get stuck with it.

He would have to make a lot of custom stuff. And that's where I am worried, someone that has a lot of programming experience would not just save that for later. He should have made this work before the demo version went public, because its not easy, if he is unable to add it very soon, the fans are going to just nag the shit out of him and cause stress. I also doubt that the save system had saving for multiple paths in mind, for example you cant really see which save is for what, its just a list. But we have seen this in other games too, for example big brother, the twist? They all had just timestamps on the save. I liked that about most other games, they show screenshots of where you saved,

If it has taken him 6 months to do this demo, and on top of this, you cannot save mid dialogue or even press esc to open menues etc. Either he is way in over his head, or he basically just spent 4 months vacationing, 1 week to find the assets he needs, most of the remaining time designing characters, writing and doing some rendering, and then finally, customizing the UI of the game to look fresher.

The game will turn out well, eventually, but i think it may stumble upon a bunch of hiccups on the way that may cause frustrations with the developer, and ultimately the fans.
Knowing nothing of programming, is there some hurtle why Unity does not release assets that copy Ren'Py's functionality? Readers love them and immediately notice when they are absent.

Thats not how it works, unity is just an engine, to do the most essential and good stuff for game development on a purely technical level.

These assets like fungus and other VN assets, are not made by unity, they are made by other developers that sell them on the unity store.

It's up to the game developer to understand its players needs and make the game based on that.

Unity is getting a far too bad reputation on this forum due to so many people not knowing how to make games properly in it.

I don't really see much of a point to make a game in unity if you're only gonna buy assets from the store, it could just cause a bunch of problems for you later, and so far none of them that are out there are matching ren'py in quality or functionality. Most people end up having to combine assets, and that causes new problems.

Unity itself provides way to load textures, display textures, interract with them and all that stuff on a very basic level.

For example, unity can easily support displaying an texture on a square. But how to get the texture on there requires coding. Unity has commands on how to do some of these things.

If you start with an empty unity project, it takes a lot of work to get up to the point where you are on the same level as let's say ren'py.

The idea of using unity is not to make a game like ren'py, but to get there and then make it better, or, because you are more familliar with C# than with Python.

I would celebrate the dev if in the first real release we change the MC from Mr rapey twat to the nerdy brother.
At some point during the long waiting it was hinted that the MC's assholeness is quite intentional. And now that we have an identical twin, i can't help but wonder. Would make a nice plot element that the original MC actually dies or leaves.. i could even imagine the current mc becoming a sort of antagonist npc later on.

Game seems to freeze on meeting the father outside the house for the first time.. chat window drops down , left with a cursor that seems to do nothing at all.. until i give up and ctrl alt delete the task.. any ideas on this one?. what am i missing?>
Same here (both clean and incest version), and no, setting the details to low doesn't solve it (changing resolution doesn't solve it either).
