WWG said he thinks the update is at least 2 months away. That would be 16 months, best case, but it could easily take longer and hit that 18 month threshold. Hopefully it won't, but we should be realistic here. :(
Considering that he thought he could get it released by this month it's possible it won't take 2 months either. My point is considering how many other games have similar update cycles to this one and several major games on this site also took between 12-14 months to update it makes no sense to not enforce the rule here. Imo a third of a year away isn't really close. Especially since we literally have this exact same conversation every single update cycle. At least wait till the game actually hits 16 months.
IIRC that rule was put into place for Light of my Life, which has consistent and semipredictable year-long launch cycles, BaDIK's second to last update was a in development a year as well. This games last two updates took ten months, but both of those also had multiple what ifs/dreams release as well.
I'd argue this games update cycles are fairly consistent as well. They've been steadily increasing by a month or two per update. And the dream sequences aren't that long in the first place. Each one is probably only about 5 mins or so and they're just suggestions other people asked for so it's not like he has a ton more writing to do there than for the actual main game.

Averaging the last three you would arrive at about 10 months per update. We are now a full 6 months past that...
Average vs rate.

Average is only useful when updates are constantly around the same time each that's not really the case here. When trying to figure out how long something takes you often use rate.
Last update took 11 months so even that one would have been past the average.

And that's not even accounting for the increased amount of renders per update as well.

Chapter 9 had 658 renders, chapter 10 had 762 renders, Chapter 11 had 49 scenes on the to-do list and 1,001 renders, chapter 12 had 1,391 renders and 56 scenes on the todo list.

It's very very obvious that chapters have been getting consistently longer so using average doesn't make any sense here. The updates don't all come out in the same time frame and they don't all contain the same amount of scenes. It's not like he's been making the exact same sandwich, the exact same size around the same time a day.

And again we have litearlly this exact same discussion on this thread every single update cycle. The rule exists for a reason because pretty much every game thread with long update cycles devolves into this same discourse.

The entire point of forums is discussion, by enforcing that rule, this thread has nothing to discuss that hasnt been said already when the last update was 14 months ago. I fail to see how this is a valid argument.

The point of forums is discussion about the games, not the development time. I don't really see why 14 months matters. Anything that "hasn't been said" was true a 3 months after the update first came out. There's always more to discuss and new people joining threads that haven't been part of the older conversations. This entire argument makes absolutely no sense to me. Even without new information about the game people can still discuss preferences or theories about the next chapter. You think people talking about the development time now are discussing stuff that hasn't "already been said"?

Wouldnt people new to the thread be repeating the same stuff as earlier in the thread? Isnt that what you have an issue with?

It's a forum about the game. Development time is definitely a significant topic of any game or piece of media. Kinda weird to try to dictate to people what they can talk about man.

I think you know exactly what he's been getting at...

The same recycled arguments concerning development time/missed dates, the trolling/flame bait posts throwing not-so-thinly veiled insults at anyone who's not bitching about WWG from the same people. The kind of things that are deemed off-topic and get deleted en-masse.

I don't have a problem with people repeating the same stuff over and over again. I have an issue with people derail conversations about the actual plot and characters of the game to talk about the development cycle and call the dev a scam artist. They do this in nearly every thread that has long update cycles and it always kills any genuine exciment people have for the next update or interest in actual discussion. Because we always have people arguing about milkers on one side and another side of people saying it's not a milker or to just shut up and leave.

Exact same arguments, the exact same people no matter what the game. I want actual discussions about the plot and characters of the game. I don't care if someone said the same thing back in January. If they said it it's long enough I forgot about it anyway.

Of course I am because there is literally a rule about talking about the development cycle. This development stuff crap is annoying when people talk about in this thread and it's annoying when people talk about it in every other thread. I don't care if you hate how long the game takes. I don't care if you think the dev is a liar. The thread derailment is annoying

Okay so just ignore it if you don't like it. Just like how you don't care what other people think, others also do not care whether you like what they have to say either.

We literally have a rule about dicussing development cycle, we literally get this exact same argument every development cycle for every game. This thread is here to talk about the game. If you want to complain about the game why don't you actually message and vent to the dev himself or on the discord
You sure are doing a lot of running around to argue with the moderator just to make sure no one says anything negative about your precious WWG. Almost like you know it's all true and desperately don't want anyone to mention it. The moderator said speaking on the delay is fine, he's the moderator not you, move on. If you don't want to talk about the delay, ignore it and don't talk about it. You don't control the conversation here.

That's the whole issue though. Consistent updates means that type of bitching is easily thrown out as off topic, but in this case, assuming WWG gets this update out when he says he will, it will be two months away from our abandoned tag. I don't see how that type of discussion is off topic at all here.

I enjoy the discussion, it helps understanding on both sides typically. That clearly isnt the case here.
